With us today is Jon Lazo to discuss his life-changing win! Congrats on a great showing! What made you decide to compete in the Men’s Physique Division?
What made me decide to compete in the Men’s Physique Division was my passion for fitness. Growing up I’ve always been an athlete. Primarily a high school wrestler! Therefore, as a person, I live off of competition! After completing high school, I attended a community college and with all the spare time I had, I decided to join a gym! Shortly after, I fell in love with weight training and fitness. In addition, after three years of training and being asked if I competed, I decided give it a shot!
Can you tell us a little about the show in which you most recently competed?
As a Men’s Physique competitor, I recently made my debut at Jason Arntz’s NPC Muscle Beach Championships at Monmouth University, August 10th. I placed 1st in Men’s Physique Class C which included 14 competitors...
I would like to clarify something that I have noticed since entering the Men’s Physique division, first at the National level and which is even more relevant at the IFBB Pro level. Whether we all agree or not; the fact is that in the Men’s Physique division posing has become known as the key point to placing in the top. Everyone knows that just because you have the sickest, most ripped physique, if you can't present it, then you're not delivering the overall best package and your placing will reflect that...
Jay Hall, “It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of WHEN!”
Congrats on a great showing Jay! What made you decide to compete in the Men’s Physique Division?
It was late in 2011 when a buddy of mine named Micah Buck was telling me he was getting ready to compete in this thing called Men’s Physique. I had never even heard of it so I went home and started researching and then boom, I had a goal to lose weight since I had put onthe pounds back then.

I just did Team Universe in New Jersey which was my first national level show. It was a pro qualifier and Top 2 in Men’s Physique would become IFBB Pros...
The cyclical nature of things is very real and no different within the fitness community. One thing that seems to come to the forefront every so often is drama, but it certainly doesn’t have to! It seems anytime there is a mass of people doing one thing that spreads rather fast, many are waiting to combat it without even really looking into it. We must remember that there really aren’t a lot of absolutely brand new things being done; they just may have not been done in great numbers previously or in a while. We must also remember that for something to catch momentum there really must be something to it and that is where we should focus our efforts!
Meet the Man in The Shorts Matt Mankoff. Matt is a Men’s Physique competitor via soccer, boxing, mixed martial arts, and paintball! Congrats on a great showing! What made you decide to compete in the Men’s Physique Division?
I grew up playing competitive club soccer and always had a hard time putting on some size. When they opened up the Men’s Physique Division it opened the doors of bodybuilding to guys like me who were in shape but did not have the genetics to compete against the bigger guys in bodybuilding...
With us today is Patrick Bilicki. Congrats on a great showing! What made you decide to compete in the Men’s Physique Division?
I have always been a fan of working out. I was going through a hard time in my life and took out my aggression in the gym and an IFBB Pro bodybuilder saw me and asked me if I was interested in the sport and competing one day. I have never looked back.
Can you tell us a little about the show in which you most recently competed?
