With us today is Jon Lazo to discuss his life-changing win! Congrats on a great showing! What made you decide to compete in the Men’s Physique Division?
What made me decide to compete in the Men’s Physique Division was my passion for fitness. Growing up I’ve always been an athlete. Primarily a high school wrestler! Therefore, as a person, I live off of competition! After completing high school, I attended a community college and with all the spare time I had, I decided to join a gym! Shortly after, I fell in love with weight training and fitness. In addition, after three years of training and being asked if I competed, I decided give it a shot!
Can you tell us a little about the show in which you most recently competed?
As a Men’s Physique competitor, I recently made my debut at Jason Arntz’s NPC Muscle Beach Championships at Monmouth University, August 10th. I placed 1st in Men’s Physique Class C which included 14 competitors.
How did you feel after pre-judging?
Making my debut at this show, I expected to be nervous. However, I was very excited and full of confidence! I left that excitement and confidence out on stage during pre-judging. It felt amazing to walk out on stage and show the judges my physique but overall my hard work! In addition, I was the first call-out and in the comparison round I was placed in the center of all the competitors! I smiled and watched as the judges critiqued my physique which was a great sign for me. It was quite an exciting experience!
How did you feel about the final results of the show?
After receiving 1st place in the Men’s Physique Class, I was ecstatic! It was a life-changing experience as a first-time competitor. I felt that the results of the show were fair and I deserved to win. I received a 5 on my score card which I believe was very accurate! In addition, it was a great pleasure to receive my award from IFBB Pro Dean Michael.
What are your thoughts on the Men's Physique Division and what it may be able to do for your career?
It’s a growing division that underlines the importance of health and fitness. It’s something that may bring new opportunities into my life and the fitness industry.
