Danielle Destroys The Road To The Pittsburgh Pro

Hello!

So I am preparing for my third Pro show to date, The Pittsburgh Pro. At less than two weeks out I am feeling good, relatively speaking... haha! At this point before shows I usually feel a bit of brain fuzziness, fatigue and moodiness. Ah, the joys!  It is during these times that I remind myself that it is not forever that I will feel this way and it’s usually a good sign that I am on track.

WOW!  What a month...since the last time I checked in, I moved from Florida to Pennsylvania, I celebrated my birthday and I got ENGAGED!  So to say that the last 30 days have been busy (& amazing) would be a huge understatement.
As I was still glowing from the newness of being a fiance, I had to start packing up my apartment and get it jammed into my car to take my road trip up to Allentown, PA.  At the same time, I had to prepare myself to eat healthy on the road.  This got me thinking that I would like to share with you my tips for travel and staying healthy on the road.

TNT- Trish-n-Training: To Compete or Not to Compete?

grand prix 1TNT- Trish-n-Training: To Compete or Not to Compete?

Last week I competed in the IFBB Pro Physique Grand Prix in LA and it was an eye opening experience for me. When I competed last month, I had a disastrous first show. I got on stage bloated and looking way too soft. So with a few tweaks to my diet and cardio plan, I entered the Grand Prix with a completely different look and enthusiasm. I went into that show hard, tight, and feeling really good. My color looked great, my suit fit me so much better, and my posing was much more polished. So, when I got the very last callout I was a bit thrown off. I placed 8 out of 9 competitors at the Governor's Cup so I was really hoping to move up in the ranks this time.

I love California!  This past weekend I competed at the 2012 Grand Prix. I had an amazing time.I got there on Thursday. Okay..... it was really cool... first of all I was dressed for spring having just left Boca Raton, Florida.  Thank God for my SPECIES track suit which came to the rescue. My  husband and my seven year old daughter went with me.

Fit and Focused With Allison Moyer: Contest Prep vs Life- Finding A Balance

website7Fit and Focused With Allison Moyer: Contest Prep vs Life- Finding A Balance

Happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same.” ~Francesca Reigler

Sometimes it seems near to impossible to go through a contest prep without drastically doing a number on the remaining aspects of your life; jobs, friends, family, etc. Many times I have seen competitors do really well on their contest prep but only while heavily neglecting family time, relationships and even work. I also (too many times) see competitors fail at their prep, or cease to succeed in their diet/training endeavors because they simply cannot seem to strike a balance between the many facets of their life.

Training to Failure and Pyramid Setting

Bodybuilders differ greatly from that of the traditional athlete.  Some strength and conditioning coaches actually don’t considered bodybuilders actual athletes.  What? That’s nonsense, right?  The reasoning is such because traditional athletes’ and bodybuilders’ training programs are very different.  Bodybuilders utilize many, many different practices from the world of strength and conditioning, but the actual competition is different than that of a traditional athlete.  Most practices that are utilized by bodybuilders are discarded or rarely use by athletes because they actually cause painful delayed onset muscle soreness or simply the development of too much muscular mass for the sport in question.

Tiffany Robinson IFBB Fitness Pro Journal #1

For about two weeks now I have been carefully thinking about what I might want to journal about. I took a deep breath and realized that I honestly need to share what I write in my personal journal. I know that others deal with issues daily big and small and why not let everyone know that “you aren’t alone”.

Metabolic Downgrade is a very real problem in our community of competitors. It’s a popular topic of discussion online, especially here on RX Girl, but I’d like to touch on it some more and share my experience as a contest coach fighting against it!
