Many of us see the current crop of top tier pro bodybuilders like Roelly Winklaar, Eduardo Correa or Paul Demayo through the 90’s support horseshoe shaped thick/striated triceps many of us would only dream of. Rarely do we see this on an amateur level, and even more rarely on a natural amateur bodybuilder! Well, we contacted a man who we believe has one of the best sets of triceps in Australia in Guy Mason who competed this year for the first time. Below Guy gives us a little history about himself along with a typical tricep routine letting us know how he built his crazy triceps!
It has been estimated that over 75% of the population suffers from food allergies, although nearly everyone experiences similar effects of food intolerance at least one time in their life. In many instances it is not necessarily intolerance to the food itself, rather intolerance to an additive in the food. Your health, performance and physique are all dependent on how your digestive system works and understanding which foods cause you the most grief is the first step to a happy healthy life.
Do you have troubles with a specific area on your body that you just cant get the fat off? Is it the fat on your hips that roll over your jeans, the most undesirable man boobs, or the donut of fat around your stomach.
There is no doubt about it; a very large majority of males in the gym want to increase the size of their arms. I see it everyday of the week, in multiple gyms, and it’s all the same story, same results.
Study finds that diet is 90% of the equation!
Well, actually...not.
But if you’re anything like me, I’m certain you've read umpteen articles, heard hordes of PTs, and been subjected to numerous unsolicited opinions that attempt to do just that; namely, put an exact figure on how important diet is to body composition, as compared to other factors - usually exercise (and just as an aside, doesn't it strike you as a bit of a coincidence that most of these figures tend to be nice neat numbers like 50%, or 90%? I mean. sheesh...if I hear another dude tell me that diet is 50% of the equation, I’m going to strongly disagree and claim that 49% is a much more accurate figure...see what he says to that- I’m betting on a raised eyebrow...or perhaps a bemused shrug).
Growth hormone (GH) is a very misunderstood piece of the puzzle to do with a person's health and physique. Often only heard about when discussed with body builders using illegal methods of obtaining GH or by celebrities to become more youthful. These are all true, but we create our own GH naturally. Proper methods with nutrition, life style and training can be can be the answer to increasing the production of this incredibly anabolic chemical.
There is so much information out there in the bodybuilding/fitness world that it is often difficult to decipher fact from fiction. In many cases we are left with what we term “broscience” – information passed down from one bro to another in the gym with no real scientific backing. Some things we hear in the gym are true, some are true but not optimal and some are just rubbish. So not unlike a bro shredding for a music festival, watch as I take this broscience and strip away the inessentials until the truth is revealed.
I am responsible for fat loss and fat gain; muscle gain and muscle loss. I regulate neurological impulses and brain chemistry. Who am I? That's right, the notorious calorie. As I mentioned in my previous article, nutrition is perhaps the most important aspect of ones journey in both health and bodybuilding.
In a modern society where obesity is at a near pandemic state, lifestyle related diseases are increasing and levels of depression and suicide rates are at an all time high, things may seem pretty bleak. Quite a negative introduction to the first article of a training section, I know. Now before you dismiss this article as little more than an angry ramble regarding the current state of health affairs in western societies, let me propose a simple, yet remarkably effective solution: Bodybuilding.
As the old saying goes, “opinions on diets are like a%&holes...everyone’s got one”. That’s no lie.
One of the problems with the ‘diet wars’ is that there’s no hard and fast way to settle the truth. You can’t just take a look at a bro’s physique and deduce the truth of their preferred diet because the fact is, people succeed on all sorts of diets, and people tank on all sorts of diets.
