2014 Worlds Strongest Man - Finalists and Updates

The 2014 Worlds Strongest Man qualifying sessions have ended, the dust has settled and 12 of the worlds best in strength athletics have qualified for this weekends finals in Los Angeles. There are some new faces and some old faces, but each has the same face on at the moment; win at all costs.

Leading the finalists are the five group winners are Three Americans; current WSM champion Brian Shaw from Colorado, 2013 5th place finisher Mike Burke also from Colorado and first time finalist Jerry Pritchett from Arizona. Also wining their groups are last years third place finisher Hapthor Bjornsson and the three time WSM champion Zydrunas Savickas.

Rounding out the runners up for the five groups are Eddie Hall and Terry Hollands and Laurence Shahlaei from England, Aussie martin Wildauer and relative newcomer and probably the most improves of the entire year, Canadian Jean-Francois Caron. There are two alternates based on the most points scored across all of the group, returning American Dave Ostlund from Minnesota and another Aussie in Warrick Brant.

Injuries were at a minimum this year, however, last years finalist Robert Oberst was forced to withdraw after suffering a hamstring injury during the Car Carry. Frankie Schuen was also injured but in the Squat event and forced to withdraw from what was reported to be a back injury.

The boys and production teams get a few days off to recover, mend and rest before this weekends finals begin on Friday and commence on Saturday at the Commerce Hotel and Casino in Los Angeles. Both days will see three events each and both days being at 9;00AM PST.

Congratulations to everyone involved.
