Powerlifting Double Event: Fundraiser and Guinness Record!

CLACKAMAS -- Oregon powerlifters Chris Duffin and Adrian Larsen will attempt to set new records in a Guinness-sanctioned strength exhibition on Sunday, March 16, at Elite Performance Center.

Both lifters will offer free deadlift and bench press clinics to interested athletes after they have completed their lifts.

The event will be open to the public, and donations will be collected to benefit Portland powerlifter and bouncer Brian Rizzo. Rizzo was shot on Jan. 11 while working at the Mystic Gentleman’s Club.

Chris Duffin will attempt to break Walter Urban’s current Guinness record for the heaviest sumo-style deadlift in one minute. Urban’s record is 4,778.6 kg (10,535 lbs).

Duffin has been ranked number one in the world for four of the last five years in powerlifting. He currently holds all of the American Powerlifting Association AAPF records in the 198lb class. Duffin is the co-owner of Elite Performance Center, and he is sponsored by USP Labs.

Adrian Larsen will try to outdo Eamonn Keane of Ireland’s record for the heaviest bench press in one minute. Keane pressed 6,960 kg (15,344 lbs) in 2012. Larsen currently holds the world record bench press in the 220-pound class, having pressed 585 pounds in competition. Larsen works for the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Department and is sponsored by At Large Nutrition and Anderson Powerlifting.adrianlarson.jpg

This world class powerlifting exhibition and coaching opportunity will begin at 12 noon. Following the guinness record exhibition Chris and Adrian will host a free seminar on bench pressing and deadlifting.

Admission will be free, but donations for Rizzo will be encouraged. All funds collected will go directly to Rizzo’s family to help cover his mounting medical expenses.
