Spotlight On: Bikini Competitor: Natalie Lynn Lichtenbertg

Category you compete in: Bikiniimage (3)

Date of birth: 04/18/71

Hometown: Chicago

Career: Lab Scientist, Personal Trainer/Professional, Environmentalist

If you could change into a superhero for a day who would you be and why? Is there such a thing as a Hulkette??? Lol!! I admire the Hulk’s amazing strength, determination with not being tied down! I’m not one to really join the flock…I love being a wanderer and having my independence. I have a lot to accomplish so no one hold me down!! Lol!!

What made you begin dedicating your lifestyle to this sport? My mom had me sitting on her feet so that she could do sit ups when I was two! Needless to say, my mom inspired me to stay active and fit, putting me through many years of dance. Once I got to my thirties, I was still wanting to get on that stage to perform and keep up my dance skills…so I started in fitness! Although I no longer compete in fitness, I have found bikini still to be a ton of hard work and still satisfies that need to get a pretty “costume”… :)

Once I started competing, I started to see how I could influence people to live happier lives while still maintaining a healthy environment, helping them to be happier, more satisfied people. It is always inspiring to see someone enjoy their new lifestyle and taking it to another level!

What approach do you take to dieting...carb cycle..keto? I love eating whole, natural foods that are organic, antibiotic-free…eating a blend of protein, healthy carbs and yummy, good for you fats! If anything, I’m working hard to be more vegetarian…this is a work in progress…and carefully monitoring the results!

What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about competing? I’ve always been accused of not knowing how to “let go” when I’m out doing things with friends, at work, etc., because I don’t always give in to the processed, sweet foods like some others might…not into the whole drinking scene on a regular basis…so this makes me appear “uptight” to those I might associate with that may have no connection to the fitness industry. Needless to say, only with my closest, best friends does this “obstacle” not get between us. I merely just biding by my choices!

imageWhat is your most embarassing childhood memory? Never been asked this one before…lol!!! When I was about 12, a young boy on a bicycle rode by real close to me and pulled down my pants while I was standing talking to a friend. Totally unexpected and so embarrassing in front of my friends. My best friend at the time, laughed! I was so not happy…lol!!!

What is the biggest lesson you have learned about YOURSELF during your contest prep? I did not realize this for a very long time, but success is based way more on your emotional strength and happiness than on your physical. I know that may sound silly! But no matter how hard I tried to walk the “right” way, wear the “best” colored suit, etc., I still was not reaching the success I wanted to in the industry. It wasn’t until I had grown up on the inside that I was really able to spread my wings and take hold of my dreams….and bring them to fruition.

Who do you look up and admire and why? Momma! She has been through so much and teaches me strength in so many situations in my life, beit love, friendship, health, etc.

 Competition history:

I’ve been competing over 10 years now at the National level…now in my forties and still going strong!

 Next competition:

2012 Arnold Classic Amateur Bikini

Favorite Motivational Quote: My own! “You can have and achieve all that you desire through sheer will and the power of God”.

Who would you like to thank? My parents of course…they are kinda like my sponsors in some ways! I have so many friends in the industry from over the years that have touched me in some way, taught me something new, etc., that it’s really hard to name just one!
