Dayna Maleton is one of the girls you will never forget, whether it's her hilarious off the wall personality or her spectacular looks, this girl is truly unforgettable. I originally saw Dayna while
shooting the Atlantic City Pro/Am. She competed in the new bikini division, and won her class qualifying her for the NPC Team Universe a few short days later. Dayna entered the Team U and to no ones surprise earned her IFBB Pro Card; making her amateur career one of the shortest in NPC/IFBB history.
I, officially, met Dayna while packing up my equipment after that show. I congratulated her on her achievements and introduced myself to her as a photographer. I told her I did the stage shots of her from the AC show for RX. She replied, "Oh thanks, I loved them! You must be Dan?"
Confused, I said, "No, I'm Chris Zimmerman! I did your stage shots. We should set up a shoot soon!"
Dayna's reaction was shocking BUT my introduction to her NJ attitude that is so unmistakably her! She literally just said, "No, some guy Dan did them!" then turned around and walked strutted off with her bad self!
I was shocked but when I got home I went online and sure enough all my photos were tagged with Dan's name! NICK THE STICK SCREWED ME! I was now officially "that creepy photographer". I actually called Nick and we both laughed about the situation. Luckily Dayna found me on Facebook and saw I was legitimate and the rest is history!

CZ: So, you're living in New Jersey, was your family drunk at the time they decided to move there?
DM: No Chris actually I came from the Bronx moved to NJ because they have BEST school systems!! And for your information Jersey is the best place to live. I have visited many other states and can't wait to come how to Newark airport although this is not the nicest area. I will never move from here and people who do ALWAYS come back....That's a fact! So stop knocking on Jersey boring Philly boy.
CZ: Tell the RX readers the truth is New Jersey really as trashy as the infamous TV on MTV make it out to be?
DM: UMMM. Down the shore.......... Yeah!!! But not all of Jersey is like that.
CZ: How did you get started competing and why the NPC? Was it really so that one day you could live out your childhood dream of meeting me?
DM: Chris you're an ass (can I say that?), thank god I love your work! I actually decided to compete at The Atlantic City Pro/Am two weeks out. I always bust my booty in the gym and stay in shape. My excruciating <laughs> pre contest diet was not much of a change from my typical diet, except that I cut out pizza and desserts.
CZ: No pizza and desserts for 2 full weeks!?!?! How did you survive? You may indeed be emotionally traumatized for life!
DM: No worries I'll just give the left over pizza and desserts to your fat ass next contest prep <sighs>
CZ: We all have our reasons for hitting the gym. What were your initial motivating factors?
DM: I have always had an athletic body and never had to work real hard at it and as I got into my mid 20's I didn't want it to change, as naturally, it does. So I started working out and it became an obsession. If I don't go to the gym at least 5 days a week I feel guilty.
CZ: As far as the fitness industry is concerned, what are some of your short and long term goals?
DM: Short term I would like to come in top 3 in a pro show this year.
Long term I want to be a cover model. Especially for Oxygen, Flex. I also want to eventually start my own fitness line of clothing. I am a professional makeup Artist and work at some of the bigger shows and photo shoots. I would also like to continue doing this and grow it bigger.
CZ: Figure or bikini in the future, and what drew you into this particular division? I really think you'd do amazing in figure as well.
DM: I really got thrown into this from a couple friends of mine in the industry. So I was ready to just walk on stage my first show without really changing any part of my lifestyle. I turned pro my second show so I just stuck with it. Everyone keeps telling me to do figure and I thought about it but I like my lifestyle now. I eat clean most of the time but cheat a lot. I go out and have fun with my friends and have drinks when I want. I don't want to cut this out of my life. I have a balanced life between fitness and fun and I'd like to keep it that way.
On a sliding scale ranging from 10 to 10, with 10 being the highest possible number, how would you rate RX-muscle as a site and Chris Zimmerman's creativity?
Chris, you need to go back to 2nd grade math class! Having said that, I love your work and can't wait to see what we come up with in the future.
