Bros vs Pros 7. Summer Slam - 1: The Rules

 

 

Men's and Women's Deadlift Challenge

  1. Both men and women will follow the rules of the event with a professional and polite demeanor. Anyone not following this simple rule will be disqualified at the sole discretion of the head judge.

  2. For the deadlift, men will use a 45lb bar, 8 - 45lb plates and simple clip style collars equaling 405lbs.

  3. For women, each contestant will be weighed prior to the start of the womens deadlift event. If a contestant weighs more than 2lbs over a 5lb increment, that contestants bodyweight will be registered at the 5lb heavier mark. 2Lbs or less, the converse is true.

    Example: Suzie weighs 122lbs, her weight is recorded as 120. She will deadlift 120lbs in competition. If Katie is 133lbs, her weight will be recorded as 135lbs and she will lift that weight.

  4. Straps of any material or OK to use for both men and women. No hooks, lifting suits. Footwear at the discretion of the athlete.

  5. The bar must make contact with the floor with each rep. Failure to do so will result in a non counted repetition. Lock out. The athlete does not need to pause, but hips must come forward, knees straighten and shoulders must be back. No time limit as long as the athletes hands do not come off the bar.

  6. In the event of a tie, each athlete will compete at in a “lift off” with a weight to be determined.


Womens Pullup Challenge

  1. Each contestant may have a spotter bring them up to the bar but may not maintain contact with the competitor after.

  2. Any combination and width of grip will be allowed.

  3. For a repetition to count, each contestants chin must clear the horizontal plane of the bar as observed by the head judge. The head judge will be positioned high enough in front of the contestant to make that determination.

  4. Once a contestant removes both hands from the bar, you may no longer be able to remount and continue.


Womens Curl Challenge

  1. Every womens contestant will be weighed on a scale provided by the gym. All weigh-ins will take place before the beginning of the deadlift challenge.

  2. For the Curl challenge, women will use a 25lb cambered bar and any combination of plates to reach the half bodyweight requirement.

  3. Each contestant will grasp the bar in an underhand grip, lift the bar from the ground and begin. The head judge will count each repetition that the contestant clearly has control of in the most upright position.


Fire Truck Pull

  1. Open to men or women, this event will take place over a measured 100' course with the fastest time being the winner.

  2. Each contestant will be strapped into a harness and fastened to the firetruck via a chain or rope. Each contestant will grasp a rope with which they will use a hand over hand to assist in pulling them to the finish line.

  3. As the rope slackens, someone only appointed by the head judge can remove the rope to a safe and effective location next to the contestant.
