Joining us today is Ben Rodriguez. First off, congrats on the awesome transformation and additionally congrats on a great showing! What made you decide to compete in the Men’s Physique Division?
After losing the excess weight, living a healthy lifestyle, doing some fitness modeling here and there and being engaged to my fiancé, which has competed before got me started. I just love it!
Can you tell us a little about the show in which you just competed?
I just recently competed in my second competition at The NPC Southern States, placing 7th in class C men’s physique.
How did you feel after pre-judging?
I felt pretty confident after placing 1st in my first competition (The Dayana Cadeu Classic 2011) , but there were at least 32 other competitors so that got me a bit nervous.
How did you feel about the final results of the show?
I honestly felt I should have placed in the top 5, but extremely happy with the changes I made from last year to this year.
What are your thoughts on the Men's Physique Division and what it may be able to do for your career?
I really enjoy this division, and recently at the Southern States was approached by Dayana Cadeu to be a guest poser at this years Dayana Cadeu Classic

Years training: Since I was 15 I’ve been into weightlifting, but 3-4 years into serious training, and most importantly my nutrition.
Education: A.S in Dietary Nutrition, Certified Personal Trainer, X-ray Technician, and Electrical Engineer
Occupation: Fitness Model, Men’s Physique competitor, nutritionist and personal trainer
Favorite type of training: Nothing like hitting the weights! And love me some cardio intervals!!

Favorite exercise: Bicep Drop Set

Typical workout duration: Mon-Friday: 1 hour weights and abdominals, 1 hour cardio. Saturday & Sunday: Cardio & Abs
Training split: 1 body part per day, calves and abs everyday.
Typical daily eating plan: High protein, high fiber, and low to almost no carbs.
Favorite supplement: Isopure Zero Carb & Tribulus!
What peaked your interest in training? Reaching a healthier style of eating, and living. I am Hispanic, so grandma’s cooking didn’t help haha!
Who influences/influenced your training? My fiancé.
