Meet MP Competitor Peter Jameson

Withpeterjameson2 us today is Peter Jameson.  Congrats on a great showing!  What made you decide to compete in Men’s Physique Division?

After competing in bodybuilding and placing well – just not with a win or top 2 – I decided to talk with the judges. They informed me that I had a good look for Men’s Physique. Decided to compete in the Dennis James Classic in Arizona last weekend, May 31st and was able to place first in the novice class and 4th in the open class giving me the opportunity to compete in Junior Nationals. I have a new hunger with Men’s Physique and I believe an aesthetically appealing body for the sport and potential sponsorships.

Can you tell us a little about the show in which you most recently competed?

The show was a national qualifier… The Dennis James Classic.  It had seven competitors in the novice division that I won and seven in the open class that I placed 4th. The show took place in Phoenix, Arizona, May 31st.

How did you feel after pre-judging?

I felt great I was placed in the middle the whole time which was a first for me coming from bodybuilding.  It was a great feeling knowing that I finally found the right division for me.

How did you feel about the final results of the show?

Winning the novice class was a dream come true as the 2nd and 3rd place competitors out-weighed me by 15 pounds and looked great.  Taking 4th in the open was also great as I beat out some good competitors and the top 3 guys all took in the top 20 at nationals the previous year.

What are your thoughts on the Men's Physique Division and what it may be able to do for your career?

I think it’s a great division for athletes that love bodybuilding but can’t achieve the massive size that’s required for turning pro.  Physique gives me the chance to finally make my dreams come true and become an IFBB Pro.  I also think that it gives athletes the ability to be sponsored and travel and educate others on nutrition and healthy lifestyles!

I was a college athlete at St. Cloud State University and began to work out for sports, but it quickly turned to powerlifting and then bodybuilding.

Who influences/influenced your training?

My first nutritionist I worked with was Dusty Hanshaw, a top level super heavy weight National level bodybuilder. He really showed me the ropes and was a great inspiration to me and my training and I appreciated everything that he did for me.  I now work with Robert Farrow who is a great trainer/nutritionist and friend and we just clicked and he is so responsive to me and my future goals in this sport.

What keeps you on track towards reaching your goals?

My drive and determination to be the best in this sport.  I will not stop until I achieve my dreams and aspirations of being an IFBB Pro.  I’m a hard worker that does whatever it takes to achieve my goals.

What is an interesting fact or something you would like our readers to know about you?

I was over weight in my early twenties and was at my heaviest 278 pounds.  I decided to make a change right then and there to lose weight and get healthy. I lost 70+ pounds in 16 weeks and have never looked backed. Everyone needs to start somewhere and anyone can achieve their goals if they want it bad enough.
