Since Jay Cutler turned down re-signing with MuscleTech, people have been postulating his next business move. Some have suggested that Cutler had plans to open a night club, a restaurant, or even start a shoe line, but, if those were long shots, the easy money has always been on Jay starting his own supplement line. This Monday, Jay officially announced that he’s putting all his efforts behind his new company, Alpha Helix Nutrition. The only surprise here is the name of the company. I know he is the big alpha dog of bodybuilding, but I assumed he’d use his very recognizable name and fan base to make an immediate impact on perspective buyers perusing the isles of GNC. The rumor on the street is that Jay’s Alpha Helix will focus on the needs of athletes, not specifically bodybuilders. Regardless of the name or anything else, if Alpha Helix was publically traded, I’d buy stock since anything Jay touches turns to gold!
In 2003 Claude Groulx became the ninth and final Mr. Masters Mr. Olympia… till now! That’s right, December of 2012 the IFBB Masters Olympia is returning. Contest promoter, Jarka Lorie, will be putting on another extravaganza of Masters Bodybuilding, but this time it’s moving from the steamy beaches, blue waters, and neon lights of Miami to the historic, snowy, largest city of the Czech Republic, Prague! This isn’t official yet, but many of the athletes have already shared the details with me, and the excitement is spreading. Like last year’s IFBB Masters World Championship, the prize money is going to be prodigious. I spoke to Jarka today and she promised me that as soon as she can officially comment, I’ll have the full story with all the details for you… Hopefully within the next few days! Personally, I can’t wait to see what winter in Prague brings to bodybuilding!
