The Truth About Priest
I've been hearing rumors for months that Lee Priest's days as a part of Team MD are numbered. A few days ago I heard the same thing but from a very reliable source, so I reached out to Lee and his wife, Rhaine. I just got off the phone with the happy couple and they were able to verify the rumors. As of February 19th, Lee's contract with Muscular Development will be terminated.
Lee attempted to contact Steve Blechman on several occasions to try and ascertain the status of his contract and if MD was planning on renewing it. According to Rhaine Priest, "We wanted to try and plan ahead with finances and business deals. Not knowing Lee's contract status was making it difficult to do that planning". Today Lee finally received a letter, directly, from Steve Blechman saying that he had decided not to re-sign Lee, but would like to discuss some other arrangement or possibly a different contract. I asked Rhaine if she might have some idea of what the new contract might be. She said she had no clue; however, she suspected it probably wasn't a raise!
Final Word on the British Grand Prix and Australian Grand Prix
While I had Rhaine Priest on the phone, I decided it was time to get the final word on Lee's competition plans

for 2011. There's been tons of speculation on when or even IF we would ever see Lee back on a competition stage. While Lee may, indeed, compete again someday, it won't be in London or Australia.
"Lee had been asked many times... Are you going to the UK show, and he did indicate, ‘maybe'. But now, the answer is definitely, no. Financially, it's just not a viable option. There are better things for him to spend his money on, and actually earn money in return", said Rhaine Priest.
You might be thinking, what about Australia? He doesn't have to travel much; the costs would be

considerably less, and hell... It's right in his own back yard. On all accounts, you'd be right. The only problem is that Lee does not get along with Paul Gallanos and Carol Graham (Australia's IFBB officials). According to Rhaine, "I hope in the future that Lee can help Australian bodybuilding continue to grow. For now, that's just not possible!"
