IFBB Italian Pro Daniele Seccarecci has died, suddenly, of a heart attack in his home in southern Italy. Seccarreci competed in the IFBB Nordic Pro this past Saturday in Lahti, Finland where he placed 6th in a very respectable lineup. My inside sources tell me that he had been battling with some heart issues for the past few years, but no confirmation has been made at this time.
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of spending some time with my old friend at the athlete check-in and he was in good spirits and gave me his usual endearing Italian hug. Daniele had been dealing with some personal issues the past year and this was his “comeback” of sorts. If you read my play-by-play first impression of Daniele you’ll see that he was, indeed, back the best shape of his life:
DANIELE SECCARECCI: from Italy….. fantastic structure. Taller competitor. Good quad separation. Thick ripped pecs. Striated glutes. Impressive back double. Legs can definitely be bigger… his best conditioning to date. Slight right pec tear. This is a good showing for him.
Seccarecci will be greatly missed by the bodybuilding community, his family, friends, and by yours truly. If he did indeed die of a heart attack, it was only because his heart was too big and too full of love and compassion for others. Rest in peace my friend!
