Q: What do Travis Ortmayer, Josh Thigpen, Marshall White all have in common?
A: Well, that is easy, they are all from Texas.
Q: No.
A: They are ASC Pros.
Q: Nope.
A: They have all competed at WSM.
Q: Not the answer.
A: Well, what then...?
While all those statements are true, the fact we are looking for is that Thigpen, White and Ortmayer all competed in their very first amateur NAS show a little bar in Dennison, Texas, promoted by retired ASC Pro Chad Smith! In fact, the bar currently named Smitty’s Bar & Grill and now owned by Smith. Texas was the birthplace of North American Strongman Society (now NAS, Inc.) in 1997 and Smiity’s was the site of many early NASS contests!
So, in celebration of throw backs everywhere, and just because we love throw a party ASC will be kickin‘ it Old Skool on October 18 & 19, 2013 with the North American Strongman (Society) Nationals, America’s Strongest Woman and 105 Kg Pro America’s Strongest Man®! This will also be the 2-year Anniversary of Chad Smith’s ownership of Smitty’s and he promises one rip roaring good time, with BBQ and “Live” music after the show! ASC will have oldest contest shirt prizes, state prizes and much, much more!
There will be much more information on bands, hotels, events, flights and transportation forth coming in the next few days on our FB Nationals event page, you can also link to American Strongman or Smittys Bar And Grill. This year’s event will be spectacular and not one to be missed!!!
