The L.A. Fit Expo is now in the books and some big surprises awaited those in the strongman community. With 12 athletes, 9 of which were Pro and 3 Amateurs, after 5 of 6 events, 2 Amateurs were leading the pack! In the end, Jerry Pritchett who just missed his Pro Card against Mike Caruso in 2010, had a strong game plan coming into L.A. Which he executed perfectly and took the win and the last invitation to the Arnold Strongman Classic back to Phoenix.
Jerry was not perfect, but steady s they come by placing in the top three in 4 of the 6 events and won the event with a huge 8 point difference between he and the seasoned veteran Mark Felix of the UK. Taking third was the massive 6' 8” 400+lb Robert Oberst who edged out long time pro Dan Harrison in fourth.
Jerry will now take this short 6 week period to fine tune his training for the massively challenging Arnold Strongman Classic as he and nine other invitees vie for the $50,000 first place check and the prized Louis Cyr trophy. The Arnold Strongman Classic will take place Mar 1st and 2nd in Columbus, Ohio and consist of 5 events broken into three times.
Also in LA, America's Strongest Man Mike Burke took home three world records and was one of only a few men in history to certify with the Captains of Crush 3.5 gripper. Robert Oberst who finished second in Strongman here and third at Americas Strongest Man last year, won the Strongman Combat Challenge and the overall Viking Challenge Champion.
