Career: Executive Administrative Assistant for EVP of Productions at AnnieMac Home Mortgage

What do you feel is the worst part of a prep contest?

I am a promotional, clothing, and fitness model. The worst part of training for the shoots I’d have to say is punishing my sweet tooth! I have a sweet spot for chocolate and cutting out the sugar before a shoot is a must!

Would you please tell us a little about your workout schedule?

It wasn’t until I reached my freshman year of college I became developed a passion about my fitness. I’ve tried it all, cycling, boxing, body combat, tabata, body pump, boot camp classes, TheRockCROP Web3-3kickboxing, zumba and yoga. I must say as a young woman, I took great interest in boxing. Something about the blow of the bag and embracing my inner power is such an inspiring feeling!

I tend to work the entire body during each work out, however the focus will rotate between arms and legs. Depending on my severity of soreness, (which is always bittersweet!) I will always add in a 20 minute abs workout, and plenty of time time for sprints, high knees, butt kicks, wall kicks, jump tucks, and last but not least burpees!

Being a curvy woman, I have the ability to shape my body to my liking. I am always concentrating on tightening up my booty. Therefore, squats are my best friend. Shoulder width squats, ski squats, pilate squats, wall sits, lunges, and all types of motions to tighten the gluteusmaximis!

My goal is to have strong lean legs and nothing does that better than running! I recently just ran my first half marathon for the LOVE RUN in Philadelphia, so training for that I was running 5 to 6 miles a day! Cardio is key and I will always put aside at least 40 minutes a day for cardio.

If you had to lose one of your 5 senses, which one would you prefer to lose and why?

Taste: Don’t get me wrong, food and I are pretty tight. But if I couldn’t taste anything, I wouldn’t have to battle between the angel and the devil on my shoulders or crave the naughty things I know are not good for my body!

If you could chance one thing about this sport what would it be?

SEE FASTER RESULTS! I know Rome wasn’t built in a day. But when you bust you butt in the gym for a week straight and hit a plateau, it becomes frustrating. When we receive a glimpse of results, something inside us ignites. To eat cleaner, to push harder, to complete the extra set, to run the extra mile and to keep moving forward because we only know we will improve.

If you had a time capsule what would you put inside it and why?

My journal, so I could share with future generations my history of thoughts, fears, aspirations, and piece of mind. I would really like to be able to open my world to someone on paper with the pieces of my journey through life. Maybe even help someone understand that we all have different battles we must face in life. But to always remember, God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.

What is your favorite vacation spot?

Sea Isle City, NJ

What advice do you have for women who would like to get involved in and compete in the sport of bodybuilding.

Your body is the shell to your soul. You must treat it with respect. We all have weakdownloadfile-1nesses, we’re human. Stay grounded and never look down upon others with the mentality that they are your competition or working against you. Look upon them as motivation, always find a way at the end of the day to turn all your negatives into positives, and I promise you, life will always be beautiful.

What is a day in the life of Kelsey like?

Every day is a gift, a learning experience, a journey, a blessing, and a challenge. My baby is my career, and let me tell you I rock that baby each day. My days are not always easy, not every day is stress free, or exciting but every day is precious. I value and admire the little things in life, like the couple snuggled up on the park bench on my evening runs, the patterns of the city lights I admire on my drive home crossing over the bridge into the city of Philadelphia, the thank you’s I receive throughout my day, and the smile of a passerby. My treasures in life could never be wrapped up or worn. They are my loving one of a kind family, my sisterhood of girlfriends, my energetic puppy, and the unforgettable memories and lessons I have experienced.

Favorite motivational quote:

A successful woman is one who can build a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at her.

In closing who would you like to give a shout out to?

My mama, for guiding me in the right directions, always motivating me and inspiring me to be the best possible version of myself.
