Bodybuilding fans across the globe are mourning the loss of Shaun “Dinosaur” Davis, who passed away at the age of 57 on the morning of December 1, 2023. Reports of Davis' tragic and untimely passing first surfaced from a close friend:
“I’ve just received the devastating news from Helen Burrows about the passing of my dear friend, Shaun Davis. I am shattered. Rest in Peace, my friend. From the moment we met at school, through your extraordinary bodybuilding years, and beyond, you’ve been an incredible inspiration. Your infectious smile and laughter will be deeply missed.”
Davis, who became a prominent figure in bodybuilding during the 90’s after his win at the 1996 Mr. Universe contest, was known by those close to him for having a heart, and personality, that was bigger than his larger than life physique, which tipped the scales at nearly 335 pounds during his peak.
Although Davis is recognized by many other pros from his era as having an incredible physique, his career on the IFBB stage was cut short due to long standing kidney issues, which ultimately resulted in him receiving a kidney transplant in 2009, after a wait of nearly three years.
