How did you discover bodybuilding? I discovered bodybuilding at the age of 13. I bought a bodybuilding magazine, flipped through the pages and told my mother “That’s what I’m going to be when I grow up!”
Describe your most memorable experience onstage to this point in your career. What made this moment so important? My most memorable experience at this point in my career was the 2011 Midwestern States Bodybuilding Championship. Going into the competition with no set expectations, but with expectation of redemption of having not competed in six years, I won the Open and Overall Masters Championships. That was my confirmation that I belong in this sport of having been away from the stage for so long.
Describe your current training style. Give an example of your current back routine. My current training style is heavy and high reps 100% of the time. The key is consistency and always go hard.
Back Routine – Deadlifts 6x 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4
Reverse Group Bent Rows 4x 12-15
T Bar Rows 4x 12-15
Exercise – Reverse Grip Lat Pulldowns 4x 12-15
Exercise – Reverse Grip Seated Rows 4x 12-15
What’s your greatest competitive weakness? What are you doing in an attempt to improve it? My greatest competitive weakness right now is my conditioning. Currently, I’m working with my Coach/Nutritionist Tad Inoue on making some changes to my diet regimen and training routine.
If you could be one IFBB Pro for a day who would it be? Why? If I had to choose one bodybuilder, it would have to be Phil Heath. Why?....Why wouldn’t I want to be Mr. Olympia.
Away from the stage people would be surprised to know that I… I write poetry and am a published author. My book Poetyc Conversaytions: Conversations Between Two Strangers was released last year in 2012.
What’s your FAVORITE reason for visiting Rx Muscle? My favorite reason for visiting Rx Muscle is to stay up to date on bodybuilding news. If you really want to know what’s going on in bodybuilding, you have to go to Rx Muscle.
Who would you like to thank for helping you reach this point? I would like to thank my mother for driving me to and signing me up at my first hardcore gym. Although she’s only 4 years old, my daughter Kassidy is the driving force in me pursuing my bodybuilding endeavors and pursuit of my IFBB Pro Card. Let her tell it, my daughter Kassidy is my training partner. I would like to thank Natasha, she has been my rock, my ace, my manager, my travel agent, my sponsor, my cook, my shoulder to cry on and complain to. In the last three years, she’s done more for me than anyone has ever done for me in this sport. For all that, I thank her. I must also thank, Tad Inoue or Tad the Diet Coach, a coach and a true friend in this sport of bodybuilding. Last but not least, thanks to my sponsor, ATP Extreme for their continued support.
