Don't call it a comeback: Highlights from the Toronto Pro Supershow

In an event that encompassed all IFBB Pro divisions there was a certain excitement in the air. Many new names and some known names graced the stage with a total of around 200 IFBB Pro athletes.  There were even upsets and comebacks.. of course it depends who you ask. As L.L. said... don't call it a comeback.

Women’s and Men's physique both yielded winners who feasibly could have finished either 2/3 (Matt Acton) or 3/4 (Mindi O'Brien) after prejuding on Friday. However,  this was a two day show and both days are scored. Annnnnnd that's why we play the game!

The youthful looking Matt Action tightened up his physique and filled out noticeably for the finals. Jumping past a well groomed German who came in both prejuding and finals looking on point. Action tightened the reigns and did his homework Friday night to bring his best package to the stage. This East Coast phenom isn't playing around and come Olympia time, he's going all in!

Mindi O'Brien came in significantly tighter on Saturday's finals. Getting some much needed rest and food, Mindi filled out her abs, which, consequently tightened up along with her glutes. Both of these were flat at prejuding.  Mindi now is en route to her 2nd Olympia in a row and we are all looking forward to her unique and O'Bring it routines.

In figure, two competitors went at it for the Toronto glory. Ann Titone, someone I consider to be one of the hottest and fastest rising stars in figure ended up in a dual with Gennifer Strobo.

This was a battle of near perfect structure and balance vs near perfect condition and fullness. Gen was, in my opinion, at her career best on stage. Was this an upset? It depends who you ask. Both competitors have won 5 pro shows. Gen was top 6 at the Arnold and Ann was top 6 at the Olympia (and at the Arnold).

In my estimation it was probably the closest a figure competition of this year.  As a fan of the sport, I was thrilled to watch two such athletes on the stage competing at the highest level. No one is a loser here... Both competitors come out of this more battle tested and the fans got one heck of a show. Bravo ladies... bravo.

Other notable competitors of the weekend Jill Rudison who keeps coming back again and again. Many don't know she has basically lived out of her suitcase since May 7th, right before she did the NY Pro. After hitting Shreveport and Toronto... Jill isn't done heading to Omaha this next weekend.  Jill, you may be the IFBB'S first roadie if you keep this up! Great routine and good luck!

Miss Olympia Bikini Ashley Kaltwasser also graced the Toronto stage and took home the prestigious win.  It's always cool when you can see the best in the world on stage... and in the expo (Mr. OLYMPIA Phil Heath and Dexter Jackson were also in attendance).

The Wildcard of the weekend was Lionel Beyeke. Perhaps one of the nicest guys you can talk to came in not at his best but good enough for an IFBB 5th place. (He probably doesn't remember talking to me at the meet the Olympians last year ... As his booth was right next to Sabrina's). Lionel will no doubt look at this 5th place as a disappointment as he is one of the potentially one of the most dangerous bodybuilders on stage to shake things up if he comes in at near 100%.

Juan Moral stole the night and the automatic Olympia bid and will be sitting down Team Diesel until the ultimate dance that in all estimations will be World War 3 with the likes of big Ramy, Heath, Rhoden, Dex, Wolf, Kai and Branch pulling out all the stops.
