The Toronto Pro Supershow Pre-judging has turned down… but not before it was turned up a notch.
Starting off the prejudging was the physique round of the women's fitness division. The physique portion of the judging doesn't account for the majority of the scores so just by getting in the 1st or 2nd spot in this portion of the competition isn't as grounding as in the other divisions.
The First callouts consisted of perennial Olympian Trish Warren and former contortionist Kizzy Veins. Also in this group were Marta Aguiar, Ryall Graber, Danielle Montinero and Shelly Paton
From the calls, it looked like Marta Aguier and Danielle Montinero were in the middle with the show favorite, Trish Warren possibly sitting in the 3rd or 4th position. I've seen competitors come back from as low as 5th or 6th with a tremendous routine to sweep a win… let's see if Trish can!
Next up was the BIKINI division which featured Miss Olympia 2013 Ashley Kaltwasser. If everything plays out here correctly today, Ashley will go home the 2014 Toronto Pro Supershow Champion as well.
Stephanie Mahoe was locked into what looks like the 2nd position coming out in a final confirmation call with Ashley. Rounding out the top 6 would be Breanne Hensman, Noemi Olah, Callie Bundy, and Belinda Kiriakou.
Figure was up next which looks like a battle for the number one spot between Ann Titone and Gennifer Strobo. Strobo is coming off a big 2nd place at the NY Pro while Ann is riding the waive of a victory at the Dallas Europa. Ann has perfect structure and Gen has some great conditioning. It's going to be a battle, but I have Ann edging out Gen in the finals.
Amongst others in the top 6 include ANDREA CALHOUN, CYDNEY GILLON, ROSHANDA SCHMIDT and CHAYA BROWN.
After figure was Women's Physique. The only previous Olympian in this line up was Mindi O'Brien which opens the doors for many new comings (older and younger alike) to strike!
While Mindi was in the first callouts, it appears she will likely be around 4th place. Looking to strike OLYMPIA gold would be Sandra Lombardo who will be battling it out with Teresita Morales. Both have good looks and excellent condition. Also in this first callout would be Leah Johnson, Ceanna Kerr, Nkechi Nwafor Robinson, Jill Rudison and Tracy Weller.
With the many styles of physiques in route for the 2014 Olympia Women's Physique, it will be very interesting to see how it all plays out on the biggest stage of them all.
I don't confess to know much about women's bodybuilding, but I will say I did know one competitor… Margie Martin who will probably be sitting in the 4th or 5th spot… possibly lower. Battling it out for the number one spots are Simone Oliveria and Alana Shipp. Amongst this first callout would also be Lisa Giesbrecht and Virginia Sanchez.
Next up… Men's Physique. You call it the board short division… I call it guys who make other guys wish they looked that good. At least year round right? Coming in the top 2 I surmise would be German Pacheco and Matt Acton leading the way. Amongst the others in the class Anton Antipov, Michael Brigman, AJ Shukoori, and Vincent Fiore. These guys has the best condition… except for Anton who got in probably with really good structure.
Finally, the Men's 212 division came on and the crowd went wild. Well, Canadian wild… and mostly for their hometown favorites. Guy Cisternino, who is coming off a win in Dallas, is looking to put a 2 show victory together after coming in 2nd in New York. This would give him some serious momentum going into the Olympia. In any event, I have him as the winner of this show. The Top three, if I had to predict it, would go something like this. 1. Guy Cisternino, 2. Raul Carrasco and 3. Mboya Edwards. Rounding out this top callout is pint sized powerhouse Marvin Ward, Tomas Benagli and the legendary Mark Dugdale.
Oddly enough, the men's open prejudging will not be until the finals. Everyone was expecting it and then it just wasn't there. I will be looking forward to this hardened battle between the likes of Juan Moral, John Delarosa and Lionel Beyeke. However, you can never sleep on Toney Freeman. If he comes in his best, it could throw a monkey wrench into someone's Olympia dreams.
