My Review of Clothing for Real Men: Sport Kilt!

When I packed my things to go to Arlington, I was concerned I was going to wrinkle my kilt in my luggage, and let’s face it, there’s nothing worse than a 300+lb guy in wrinkled clothing, right? I decided lets put it to the test and just drop it in my athletic bag and see what happens. When we arrived to the hotel near the University of Arlington where the festival was, I forgot to pull my kilt out and let it lay out to de-wrinkle. With my solid wool kilt, if I didn't it meant certain doom appearance wise. We went to dinner, had a glass of wine and went to bed. When I wokethe next morning, I thought, oh shite... I pulled the kilt out and it looked perfect. Not a wrinkle in sight, pleats were perfect and did I mention it made my bum look pretty damn cute too?

Bill Kazmaier: The Strongest of All Time?

Discussions between strength fans often centre on the question: ‘Who is the strongest man of all- time?’ A host of names are bandied around including Paul Anderson, Louis Cyr and Zydrunas  Savickas, amongst assorted others. One other man whose name crops up with great frequency is Bill Kazmaier. In fact, he is very often the first name to be offered. This Weekend, Men in Skirts, er... KILTS!

One of the largest Highland Games in the country is the Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games in Arlington, TX the weekend of May 4, 5, 6. With more than 50,000 people expected to attend it certainly will have its share of highlights. SallyAnne and I will bring you all of the Festival highlights including Bagpipers, Food tasting (yes, Sally has agreed to eat Haggis), beer and whiskey tasting, Highland Dancers, and much more.

It’s been 8 years since I competed in any sporting event. I have competed in Strongman, Powerlifting, Strength Demonstrations but none of them have been as much fun as competing at a Highland Games event. When I was living in the Northwest, there was summer long circuit from Vancouver, BC to Eugene, Oregon that I have the fondest memories of. Sleeping in tents on the fairgrounds at the massive Scottish Festivals, the amount of Scottish Ale and Single Malt whiskey we consumed, as I look back at it now, frightened my liver!

Coney Island Strongman Oddities Return

The strongmen are back for one day only at the Olde Time Coney Island Strongman Spectacular on May 20th at 2:30 p.m.

A display of such magnitude has not been seen on the streets of Coney Island for over 60 years. In an effort to bring back the grandiose family friendly spectacles that Coney Island was once known for, Coney Island USA and Adam RealMan, in association with Chris Rider, have collaborated on what can only be described as a colossal event. They have gathered some of the strongest men in the country for a showcase of unusual acts and super human feats the likes of which your eyes have never seen. Not since Coney Island’s golden years have giants such as these performed at the legendary amusement mecca in a free, all-ages event staged right on the street. Each of these performers has several unique feats that they have mastered, as well as the classic strongman standards that no strongman cavalcade should be without.
