Australian IFBB Pro Bodybuilders Michael Kefalianos & Luke Timms who both competed recently in the 2012 Australian Pro Grand Prix with Mike finishing 2nd and Luke 6th in a slightly smaller than usual lineup. This time around Mike went 1 better than that and 1 better than the FIBO show just prior to this show beating Johnnie Jackson who many had as the favorite! Mike notched up his first pro victory which I believe as well as many other fans of bodybuilding will say is well and truly deserved from one of the most consistant and competing pro's of the past few years.
The first place position becomes even more important this year with the new Olympia qualification rules making only the winners of shows qualifying for the olympia with 5 additional competitors also qualifying through the new Olympia Qualification Series where it's decided on points collected throughout the year so Mike has stated he'll sit the rest of the year out and compete in the 2012 Mr Olympia.
Luke's story didn't quite play out like a fairy tale he planned as Mike's seemed to, with Luke placing 13th which he was clearly disapointed with from a few updates via his facebook page and has even suggested that he may be done with bodybuilding saying "
.Luke seemed unhappy with how he was treated at the show and thinks it was a show run by politics which has been suggested in years past with some of the Europeon shows being critized among the media and the online boards but wether that was the case here or not, who knows?
We'll try and get in contact with Luke and get his side of the story with either a follow up radio interview for "Rx Muscle Australian Bodybuilding Radio" or a followup to this gossip column but whatever the case may be I'm sure we haven't heard the last from this story.
