It seems that the number of people who consider themselves actual “Bodybuilders” is increasing at a rapid rate. So many people now find it absolutely necessary to post photos of each of their meals on Facebook and update their statuses on a daily basis mentioning what body parts they trained and how awesome their “pump” was. My favourites are the posing images taken in the locker room post workout, then put up on Facebook just after the contrast and light is adjusted to make you look even more ‘shredded’.
2014 has been a great year for the girls in our sport in Australia with another two new comps just for the women.
With a great new sponsor The Clique, this contest had a really nice relaxed vibe. The Clique looked after all the girls backstage with tan, hair and make-up by the highly skilled Clique team.
This event was a great first show with 32 competitors representing West Australia, South Australia, Queensland, Victoria and NSW of mostly very high standard.
This was the first time for this event and it proved to be a huge success with plenty of new and a few “names” competing. The show was relaxed and friendly which meant it was a lot easier on the first-time competitors taking to the stage. The crowd was loud and supportive of their friends and for many of them it was their first time to a show so it was good to hear them so vocal.
The promoter was Amanda Doherty who added lots of female touches like nice food and sweets and drinks backstage for the athletes as well as nice touches like flowers and specially made medallions for the competitors.
The final FitX Amateur contest was held this year as it will make way for the Arnold Classic Amateur contest next year! Click below to view full image gallery & results...
Below is the FitX day 2 gallery for the 2014 IFBB Amateur Grand Prix & Pro Qualifier Classes. Day 1 will be added very soon!
The 2014 Australian Pro Grand Prix was monumental in many ways being one of the best lineups across all divisions (Bodybuilding, Figure, & Bikini), and it also being the last Australian Pro show (at least for now), as Tony Doherty will be launching the Arnold Classic Australia in 2015.
It could have gone either way between Rhoden and Wolf, but Dennis prevailed in the end winning his first Arnold Classic bumping Shawn down into second.
Happy for Cedric McMillan though that climbed up the ranks between prejudging and finals.
Check out the full Rx Muscle contest Gallery of the prejudging pictures from the men's 212, figure & fitness classes from the 2014 Arnold Classic!
The 2014 Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio is now just one short week away and with the amateur portion of the contest growing every year. Australia will once again have a strong contingency competing.
An unfortunate piece of news has just come through that Roelly Winklaar will supposably not be competing in the 2014 Arnold Classic & Australian Pro Grand Prix in just under 2 weeks time. This is especially disapointing for bodybuilding fans internationally & in Australia as Roelly is in career best form coming off a impressive 7th place finish at the 2013 Mr Olympia.
As if the Pro Qualifier competitors in the 212 Men's Bodybuilding & Bikini classes didn't have enough incentive to win with an IFBB Pro card on the line, they'll also punch their ticket to their second IFBB Pro Show with a free trip to the IFBB New Zealand Pro show the following weekend!
