January 2013 is when I made a choice to live a healthier lifestyle. My birthday was Jan 2, that following week I bought my first gym membership at Tommie Harris Fitness Center. I trained 3 days per week and did morning cardio 5 days per week. I entered my first 5k race that February and after that I fell in love with being healthy and active.
My coach is Terrance Williams. Our first show was a local show. From there our plan was to obtain both a National and Team Universe qualification; we did it! I earned my pro card at Team Universe along with my teammates Natasha Davis (Class A) and Kendra Beasley (Class F).
Every single day is a journey in itself, and you have to take it one step at a time. Life gets so crazy and stressful sometimes, and if you are always looking ahead and worrying about the future, you will miss so many wonderful moments of everyday life. I absolutely LOVE to cook and experiment with prep friendly recipes, but my favorite so far has to be sweet potato protein pancakes! Pancakes are my absolute favorite food, and I made up the recipe for the perfect cake-like pancake, that is almost 100% carb free.
Sculpting a world class physique is an art form. And the great artist and the great athlete have one very important thread interwoven throughout their tapestry of success: efficiency. The great artist uses the same pencils and paint brushes, and makes the same straight lines on a canvas as you and I; only they do it more efficiently. They’re able to blend those lines and brush strokes together while creating a message and a masterpiece capable of speaking volumes, while our picture might only be worth a thousand words.

In this short article I am going to share with you what I have learned about low carb diets and sodium depletion and why they are both dangerous to your health. Just not having enough sodium in your diet is dangerous to your health; it doesn't have to necessarily be a depletion. In all of my articles I do not clam to "know it all" but I do speak a lot from personal experience, research, and also from other competitors that have contacted me to share their stories as well. I have also attached some example meal plans in this article of what NOT TO FOLLOW for any reason or duration of time. These are examples of DANGEROUS meal plans. I personally do not believe in any crazy diet methods… just plain whole balanced nutrition with the proper balance of micronutrients or "macros", your carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats.
