IFBB Figure Pro Essence Monet Hits It Off: New Year, New Beginnings and New Season
I am back!!! 2012 is long and gone, Thank Goodness! So long to a tough year and hello to a new year of new beginnings and new goals.
After thinking it through, I decided to leave my previous fitness team earlier this year. It was a decision that came with one major question… Who is going to be my coach now? Well, I thought I could do it on my own and well that wasn’t working. I kept doing the same things and the same results kept happening. So I decided to search a little longer but just focus on my improvements first.
Legs and Butt were at the top of the list this off season. After my pro debut in Dallas and 4th place placing last year the only critique that I received from Sandy is to work on the backside and overall conditioning of my legs. I am not going to lie when I tell you that I was elated to hear that was the only thing. But it’s easier said than done! Big legs and butts run in my family and it is not easy getting these puppies down. I ran track, played basketball (as well as other sports) for many years and my legs just kept growing. It has been a constant battle but they are getting better and better. I always had a hard time figuring out how to train them because they grow so easily. Having too much fat on my legs is not the issue (on my butt it is J lol) but having too much quads and hammies was. This issue is a gift and a curse. SO, I finally found the right formula to getting them down (in combination with clean eating/diet). The battle that I have now is just getting them to be even. I suffered a knee injury my freshman year of collegiate track and tore my ACL, as well as, half of my meniscus. It required open knee surgery and a long rehab process. Atrophy took place and my left leg is now playing catch up with my right leg. Unilateral training is on the menu and looking forward to more progress.
Last year I also suffered a loss, my job!!! But all is well since becoming a personal trainer again and getting back to what I am good at, kicking butts into shape! I have an awesome, supportive, handsome, big, strongman as my love and a new season coming up so things are looking bright!!!!
With that being said the first show of the season is the Wings of Strength on July 5th, next is the Tampa Pro and Dallas Europa following. The goal going into this season is to bring a better package and that means even better conditioning, better structure and obviously a trip to the Olympia. The Olympia was never a goal to be honest because I just wanted to enjoy myself and get there when it was my time. But I have a new attitude this season and want to make it the top goal this year. So, with all this being said I needed someone that I knew had something that would work for me and my body. I decided to work with Dave Palumbo and felt his method would best suit my needs for my body. After having some tests done and understanding my body even better, I have confirmed what I knew all along and that my body is very sensitive to carbs. So, sensitive that it increases my cravings and urges to cheat but also makes my body retain a high amount of water. FANCY THAT!!! So, with this new plan that I am on (which I am sure a lot of you are aware of, KETO) it gives me what I need and so far going onto week 2 I haven’t had any horrible cravings and my body isn’t retaining as much as water anymore. So far so GOOD!
Until next time Keep it Classy, Keep it 100%!
