Wow, it’s amazing how fasFamily in NY 2011t two weeks goes by.  Only 4 weeks until I’m on stage again!!  I’m so excited for the NY Pro on May 19th.  I’ll be competing in Women’s Physique and this time I’ll be prepared!   The competition is at the Tribeca, the same venue I made my Pro Fitness debut in which I qualified for the Olympia last year.  I have such fond memories of that competition and they weren’t all on stage.  My family including: mom, mom-mom, great aunt, brothers, sister-in-law and long time friends Stacey and Kevin were in attendance.  Having them there and getting to spend time with them after the competition was priceless.

Last year’s competition was the first time my brothers had ever seen me compete in anything.  Growing up they never attended any of my dance recitals or gymnastics competitions.  No worries, I probably didn’t want them there anyway.  As I get older, I’ve learned to cherish the times I do get to spend with loved ones and friends.  In all over our busy lives, the opportunities to get together are fewer and farther between.  Usually the gatherings are for holidays or for not so pleasant events.  The competition gave us a reason to be together to just celebrate and enjoy.    It was great to have them at the competition to support me and share in my experience.  The best part was after the show when we all spent time together and enjoyed good food, drinks and conversation.  Usually someone has to worry about cooking and cleaning and somebody says something that upsets another, but not on that occasion; we all got together and everyone was just able to enjoy themselves.  It was a great night!  I hope we can repeat the same experience this year!

Though my brothers did not care to attend my dance recitals or gymnast competitions; we do all love hockey especially the Philadelphia Flyers!  We use to watch almost every game together and had some very superstitious rituals to help our team win.  We would have foosball competitions during intermissions and pass a bottle during power plays and penalty kills.  Oh how times have changed.  We are all still avid hockey fans, but have grown up and live in different places.  I watched the first two periods of today’s Flyer’s victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins at the gym.   I would like to thank the Flyers for powering me through an awesome workout today!  The Flyers now move on to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and I hope they continue to win as I enjoy listening to the games while I’m at the gym.  I love the looks I get from the other gym members when I scream afterFlyers with Brothers the Flyers score! :)

One last thing I would like to share this week.  I recently discovered that two of the supermarkets in my area will steam the fish you buy from their fresh seafood department for FREE!!! They do have some seasoning available, but I like to know exactly what is going on my food.  Today I had 3 pounds of tilapia steamed and gave them a bottle of Mrs. Dash Extra Spicy (my favorite) to use as seasoning.  By the time I picked up my produce the fish was cooked!  How did I not know about this sooner!  What a time saver!!!  I don’t believe all supermarkets offer this service, but it doesn’t hurt to ask!

For those attending the Europa in Orlando, look for me on Saturday at the 6 Pack Fitness booth!  Best of luck to all the competitors!
