With just a few weeks to go, the 50th anniversary of the Mr. Olympia competition is just a breath away. The preparations for the competitors are in full gear and the anticipation is rising!
One of the competitors is the rising star Sarah LeBlanc who won the open Pro Bikini at the 2014 IFBB Orlando Europa Supershow earlier this year.
We decided to ask her for an interview and see what she had to say about her history of weight training and contest prep leading into her battle at the Bikini Olympia. Let’s welcome Sarah LeBlanc to RX Girl!
AJE: Sarah, do you remember the first time you stepped into a gym and did a workout with weights? And could you tell us what your first iron encounter was like?
SLB: I went to the gym with my husband because I wanted to make sure that my form was perfect. I needed to feel comfortable and confident using the weights.
AJE: What do you like to do besides training; do you have any surprising passions?
SLB: Competing does take up the majority of my time, but I enjoy being a stylist also. I enjoy finding new and innovative techniques in hair/makeup artistry.
AJE: Could you give us some info about your Olympia preparation?
SLB: I am trying a similar package to my first pro win, the 2014 St. Louis Pro. I am also incorporating five different styles of training – pilates, boxing, weights, HIIT, and slow paced cardio.
AJE: Do you use any pre workout products or is there anything you do to ignite yourself before training?
SLB: I always jam my music on the way to the gym. I have been using Erratic from Nutrishop for my pre-workout.
AJE: This is a quite common question, but where do you see yourself in 10 years?
SLB: I may still be competing in ten years. If not, I will definitely be coaching other women.
AJE: Have you ever considered competing in other divisions in the future – like Figure or Women’s Physique?
SLB: I have never truly considered switching over because I am constantly improving myself in the Bikini division.
AJE: If I opened your fridge right now, what would I find?
SLB: You surely wouldn’t find any processed food. I have a fridge full of chicken, fish, asparagus, etc.
In closing Sarah, is there anything you would like to add?
SLB: I want every competitor to know that they are not the only ones dealing with naysayers. I have learned to deal with this by surrounding myself with people who believe in me and my goals. Bodybuilding has opened many opportunities in my life and given me the confidence to pursue larger endeavors.
Sarah, thank you for the interview! I wish you all the best at the Olympia and hope to hear more of you in the future. I’m looking forward to reporting for Rx Muscle on the next competitions in your career.
