Hi Rx Girls,
April is here and it's countdown for many of you to your first, fifth, tenth, or twentieth contest, I don't think the excitement, dedication and willpower to be number one ever abates. If it did, why would you even compete?
For those of you who love, want and strive for the perfect physique of your favorite Bikini, Figure, Fitness, Physique or Bodybuilder competitor (without stepping on stage), regardless of your age, weight, body type or current status, it's not too late to achieve your goals!
To achieve your goals of health and leanness, you first need to make a plan and have a strong support team. Who is your support team? Family and friends are the first that comes to mind, but what you also need is a strong support team that will be behind you 100% in your success. Now where do you find such an awesome support team?
Do: Hire a Personal Trainer. Find a Certified Personal Trainer that sees your dreams and will help you meet them. Take as much time as you need and interview as many trainers as you need to until you find one that is the perfect match for you and one that has a strong knowledge of your goals.
Don't: Hire a Personal Trainer based upon their looks. Looks do not equal knowledge or experience. If they had a trainer or coach help them to get competition ready, look at that coach/trainer.
Do: Change your eating habits. It's true… results are made 80% in the kitchen! Start documenting your foods. If you don't like journaling, find an app that works for you. One of my favorites is My Fitness Pal. Don't find an app that is so complicated that you're not going to stick to it. Download or write down EVERYTHING that you eat and stick to it!
Don't: Give in to the hoopla. Let me give it to you straight... there are no magic pills, shots or foods that will magically give you the body you want! Spokesmen and women are getting paid to use these products and to convince you as the consumer that if you buy whatever they're selling, you'll look just like them.
Please understand that I'm not saying these products don't work (usually they do), but they work in conjunction with proper diet and exercise (yeppers, back to the kitchen) and always, always, ALWAYS read the label before purchasing any pills or powders as you may have a negative reaction.
Do: Change your workout routine. Have you been doing the same routine for the last few weeks, months, years?! If so, it's time to change it up, mix it up and take your body to the next level! Not sure how? Reading Rx Muscle Girl is a great start as well as hiring a certified personal trainer to give you a new workout routine. Most personal trainers will document, change/update your workout programs every four to six weeks. And make sure that your trainer knows your goals. That will definitely help you achieve success.
Don't: Keep chasing the perfect workout. Stop chasing every magazine's workout of the month. You must give your workout routine at least six weeks before you typically start seeing results! And, remember, until you get a handle on your diet, your results will take that much longer to be seen.
Until next time, keep setting goals and smashing them!
Fitfully yours,
Lisa (aka Trainerlisa)
