Connecting the Social Media Pieces

Connecting the Social Media Pieces

Facebook, Instagraasm, Twitter, Vine, YouTube, LinkedIn… the endless social media we are exposed to that is supposed to “enhance” our lives.  Sometimes it seems like more of a pain in the (insert body part here) than it’s worth! Is it worth it? Do people really look at it? If you want to promote yourself in the bodybuilding industry how do you balance it all with dieting, cardio, training and that “real job” you have to go to daily to pay for it all? Here are some suggestions that you may find useful…

1. Connect your Facebook account to your Twitter account! Yes, it can be done! This way anything you post on your Facebook wall is also “tweeted.” Voilà… one less social media page you have to open!

2. Download the Instagram app on your phone. Yes, it is often hard to do much on your phone or iPad when it comes to posting content, but it does make it easier to be able to social network on the go! Simple posts, short videos and pictures can all be uploaded directly from your phone.

3. Connect your Facebook “fan” page with your “real” page – What you post on one, ends up in both places thereby saving you time!

4. Enlist the help of a friend, trainer or dith (1)et coach – In exchange for diet help or training, ask a friend to promote you on their Facebook page, Instagram and other social media outlets or EVEN better… have them take over your accounts and promote YOU!

5. Vineless – Give up the Vine! It is fun, but less people use it on a daily basis. Stick with Instagram instead, which allows you to post simultaneously to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr, and Foursquare! Take advantage of posting on multiple social media outlets at once.

6. LinkedIn – Create a profile and visit it and network once a week. This outlet does not need a traffic cop to patrol it.  Networking by using it is important if you are looking for a job, trying to change careers, etc., but not having it won’t kill you!

7. YouTube – Add a tab for YouTube on your Facebook page! Any video you post on YouTube is now automatically on your Facebook page!

8. Don’t wait forasd someone to promote you! You have to do the work! Contact websites and find out what promotional opportunities exist and how you can get involved! Start an online forum journal! Don’t lurk on the forums… POST! If you think the IFBB and NPC judges aren’t on the forums, you are crazy! RX Girl… contact me today – [email protected]

9. Once you have an online journal, blog, vlog, interview, video or any content that promotes you, post links to it on your Facebook wall, in groups on Facebook, on friends’ Facebook walls… anywhere and everywhere you can! The goal is to get it SEEN a LOT!!!

10. Be persistent! Don’t give up! No one is going to promote you if you don’t take the lead yourself.  Seek opportunities, research... but don’t make so many clogo (2)ommitments you can’t follow through!

Social media doesn’t have to be a commitment that you engage in for hours! Make it easier on yourself! Do it WHILE you are doing cardio or on the go, but focus your time on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. By using the above tips and tricks you are only REALLY focusing on Facebook and Instagram… NOW THAT is doable!!!
