Rx Girl Interviews IFBB Pro Denise Faith!
We at Rx Muscle are always trying to connect with newcomers to the sport of fitness and bodybuilding all over the world. During this interview we cross the Atlantic to meet Denise Faith in her hometown of Stockholm, Sweden. Denise recently won her IFBB Pro card in Female Bodybuilding, so we took time to do an interview with the 35-year-old competitor to ask her a bit more about her history in the sport and her goals as an IFBB Pro.
Q,) What got you into weight training in the beginning?
A.) About ten years ago I met my man and he was then a competing bodybuilder and was coaching athletes, so I automatically started to lift with him and also eating after the bodybuilding regimen!
Q.) Were you active in any other sports before bodybuilding?
A.) Basketball and Fitness Figure.
Q.) Can you please tell us a bit about your contest preparation?
A.)My coach, Coach Xtraordinairé, always put me on a high calorie diet! High in protein and high in carbs and low on the fat! I also try to eat after an alkalized regime with alkalized water and food! As much organic food as possible, mostly chicken. Whole eggs and egg whites, beef and potatoes! Green alkalized veggies and berries! I also do a LOT of cardio during contest prep.
Q.) What’s your favorite exercise in the gym?
A.) Leg press or squats in all different ways! I love to train really heavy with high intensity workouts.
Q.) Who’s your favorite bodybuilder?
A.) Yaxeni Oriquen and Kai Greene!
Q.)I know that you are part of a team and project called “Xtraordinare”. Could you please tell us about this project?
A.) Coach Xtraordinairé is my hubby’s Mattias Wiklund’s coaching project and I am, of course, assisting him in that! He is training pros and amateurs – specialized, customized diets and hardcore training and his special approach to the athletes, knowledge about nutrition and how the body works in every aspect and the fingertip feeling he has on them is at least extraordinary!
And we are also planning to move to the United States in the nearest year because the pro industry with work and environment and weather is better!
Q) I know that Coach Xtraordinairé also helped IFBB Pro Martin Kjellström in his second place, runner up, behind first place winner Dexter Jackson at the Tijuana Pro in Mexico. Martin got in a tremendous shape—maybe best ever—could you please tell us about your strategies behind the competition?
A) Yes, Coach Xtraordinairé has worked with Martin on and off since a couple of years. Mattias Wiklund, the head coach of our team, knows his body really well so he put him on a more strict diet with smaller meals and a LOT of aminos in prep for the Tijuana Pro in Mexico. Today they are also working hard to trim down Martin’s waistline and more details all over, especially the upper back!
After Martin took second place in Mexico, it actually gave him the lead of IFBB point system towards a qualification to the Mr. Olympia.
Martin’s next competition with Coach Xtraordinairé will be in Arnold Classic Brazil to ensure his leading points in the Mr. Olympia qualification!
Q.) If you could change one thing about this sport what would it be?
A.) Of Course, that would be more female competitions again for Bodybuilding!
Q) When are you planning to do your pro debut and where?
A.) The Toronto Pro, May 30-31, this year.
Q.) In closing, who would you like to give a shout-out to?
A.) Of Course my man and Coach Xtraordinairé Mattias and to David Palumbo and to Rx Muscle! My sponsors Ph9 generator/Rezpons and to Olimp Sport Nutrition and the awesome Dimitri “Dimman” owner of Delta Gym in Stockholm, Sweden.
Thank you, Denise, for the interview and we also congratulate you for the Pro card and wishing you all the best in your debut. We hope to catch up with you later to know how it felt to compete among the pros and speak a little bit about the results.
