On
April 27th, Winnipeg, Manitoba played host to the CBBF Natural Nationals. Many competitors were worried about heading to Winnipeg, as this has been a very harsh winter, with temperatures remaining well below freezing. It was as if the clouds and temperatures broke through, just to make sure this weekend’s event was enjoyed by all those attending. Temperatures warmed up to the highest temperatures the city has seen since this past October.
As the Men’s Physique Competitors took to the stage, excitement was rising. A top placing could lead to a chance to represent Team Canada at the IFBB World Championships, plus the Overall Winner was awarded the next IFBB Pro Card. Judging was tight for this category, with the following final standings:
MP Short Class:
1st: Chris Gurunlian
2nd: Andrew Bukowsky
3rd: Brian Duagui
MP Tall Class:
1st: Sean Sapera (Overall & IFBB Pro Card Winner)
2nd: Oreste Leone
3rd: Brad Bjarnason

Next up for Men’s Physique Competitors, will be regional shows in each of our Canadian provinces. MP Competitors will work to qualify for their respective provincial competitions and then on to compete again in August, at the CBBF Nationals hosted in New Westminster, British Columbia.
I feel truly honored for my 2nd place finish at this National Event. In addition, it always impresses me the great level of sportsmanship and camaraderie between the Men’s Physique Competitors. As for my own future plans, I am taking some time to get back to training hard to continue making gains in my physique and I will take time to plan my future competitions. I look forward to sharing more of my plans and journey with all of you as soon as details are finalized. Have a great May and stay fit!
