Botox works by blocking the nerve impulse from the nerve terminal to the facial muscle treated. Over time, the body forms new nerve terminals to re-establish new neuromuscular connections. This usually takes between 3 to 6 months, hence the 3 to 6 month period during which the results last.
Make sure to select a clinician who is experienced and knowledgeable about facial anatomy. Keep in mind too that you will not see the results for several days since it takes that amount of time for the Botox to take effect. This is especially important if you are thinking of doing this before a show, since you need to allow enough time for the treatment results to emerge.
