As I take a moment to stop and reflect on this past year, which has brought about such an incredible amount of change in my life, I can’t help but realize how my life has truly been impacted by consistently projecting positive energy. It was only just more than one year ago that I first began my journey to improving my health and wellness, beginning with an unbelievable transformation of losing over 30 pounds. Trust me though; this journey has not been without stress and struggle. I have definitely had moments when I had hit a plateau, or faced difficult times with work, or simply the intense pressure of preparing for back-to-back Men’s Physique competitions. There have been many times when I have allowed doubt and negative influences to impact my state of mind and/or progress towards my goals. Over time, I have learned to recognize these negative influences or thoughts, and shift my focus to the many positive things I have in my life.
Most of us don’t really think about this, but I have come to realize that all of us are role models in some form or another. Although I truly consider myself to be just an “ordinary guy,” there have been many people that have contacted me to say that I have been their inspiration to begin their own journey to improve their own health and wellness. One of the most profound results of this inspiration has been within my very own home. With my wife and me both competing in the fitness industry and spending much of our time in the gym, our 14 year old daughter had asked to start joining us during our workouts. Since then, she has been joining us on a regular basis during our workouts and loves it. She is also very good about following a clean eating, well balanced diet.
I believe that the positive energy I put out, attracts more positive energy in return. This past year has not only allowed me to achieve results in my fitness levels I had not imagined when I started, but I have also been presented with some incredible opportunities. First reaching the National Level of Men’s Physique within my first year of competing, to then being selected (along with my wife Grace) as Pure Force Nutrition’s Sponsored Athletes. Being invited to contribute here to the Men’s Physique forum on RXMuscle.com is truly amazing. I have also had the pleasure of being able to meet so many other positive people and some of my personal role models and those that inspire me. In today’s world, where having “haters” is worn like a badge of honor, I choose to focus on those people that are positive supporters. As for people some might consider to be a hater, I would rather discuss our difference of opinions and potentially learn from a different perspective, or simply move on and pursue my own opportunities, passion and beliefs. I don’t expect for everyone to share my beliefs, nor do I attempt to make everyone happy. As the old expression goes, you can’t always control what happens around you, but you can control how you react.
Thank you for taking the time to read this article. I encourage all of you to share your positivity with those around you. If you have any comments or questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
