With us today is MP Competitor Bryan Waring. Congrats on a great showing! What made you decide to compete in the Men’s Physique Division?
Well I knew I never wanted to be a bodybuilder, so I immediately took interest judging off the criteria it presented. The model, Beach body, fitness look I knew was just for me. The introduction of the board shorts was also of major interest to me, I couldn’t see myself stepping on stage in those little trunks bodybuilders wear.
Can you tell us a little about the show in which you most recently competed?
The last show I competed in was Nationals of 2012 in Atlanta Georgia. This show, like all of the shows I competed in, I dieted and trained hard attempting to bring a better physique to the stage. This particular show I believe I came in a tad bit fuller and picked up a little size, which is hard for me. It was definitely a great experience and I had lots of fun. I got to meet a lot of the already Pros and built friendships with other Men’s Physique Athletes.
How did you feel after pre-judging?
After Pre-judging I felt pretty confident on how I presented myself to the judges, but was unsure of my placing.
How did you feel about the final results of the show?
I think everyone looked phenomenal. It takes a lot of guts stepping on stage in front of 100’s showcasing your physique from head to toe. The competitors that earned Pro- Cards I truly believe they deserved and earned those #1 and #2 spots. Congratulations to all the New Pros as well.
What are your thoughts on the Men's Physique Division and what it may be able to do for your career?
I still think the Men’s Physique Division is still slowly evolving because it’s so new to the NPC. Yes, there’s a criteria for onstage appearance and posing, but I still truly feel the ultimate look has yet to me determined. I feel the Men’s Physique Division could open up fitness opportunities for me as well as enlarge my clientele with Personal Training.
