After working out with Andrew a while back I had a feeling I was in for another great workout with Louie. Sure enough, Louie came to crank out a good workout. Andrew and I worked shoulders and Louie and I were going to work chest. These brothers are strong; but, Louie and Andrew have very different frames. Even with the different looks both are good candidates for the Men's Physique division. I look forward to seeing them on stage.
Louie currently is studying for Business Management at Orange Coast College. Studying can be a challenge when on the beautiful coast with lots of distractions, but Louie gets both his studying in as well as his time in the gym. After a short chat we move into the chest blast.
First on the agenda is Dumbbell Bench Press. Louie Cranks out 5 sets and gets his pump started.

125x4
100x6
The next exercise is a plyometric pushup. These (clapping) plyometric pushups are great for developing the Type II (fast twitch) muscle fiber. This is the first time Louie has really incorporated them into his workout so I demonstrate the form that is most effective. This is a good change of pace and he can feel the work kicking in. Louie does four sets of 8-10 reps.
Following the pushups we move our focus to the upper chest with Incline Dumbbell Bench Press. Three sets are sufficient at this point to get the upper chest rolling.

Now that the upper chest is primed we move into incline cable fly. This exercise is done in an upward sweeping movement where the pinkie fingers touch at the top of the motion with palms facing upward. You can see the striations coming out in Louie’s chest in this exercise. We crank out 5 sets of 8-10 reps with the weight averaging around 100 pounds.
Now that the standard sets are done, we decide to move into a massive superset. This is comprised of three pieces of Hammer Strength equipment: Incline Press, Decline Press, and Flat Chest Press. We go through this three part superset three times shooting for 6-10 reps at each station. The chest feels like it is going to explode from the massive engorgement of blood in the pump.
We finish the workout with a pushup series. Nothing too fancy…we knock out a variety of pushups to get the final pump and extra reps in a safe fashion. Following this series each of us finds our arms are useless. The pump is ridiculous and the chest is completely blasted!
Louie really stepped and made a great impression. There is no doubt that he loves to train and train hard. Whether Louie is rifling through pages in a business book or rifling through reps on the Bench Press you can be sure he is giving it his all. Keep up the great work Louie! We are looking forward to seeing you on stage.
