PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA (May 17, 2012) – John Blatz, Lequida Sanders, Amy Allen, Ally Baker, Jacklyn Sutton, Matt Pattinson and Lauren Lessnau have been named the National Physique Committee's April Athletes of the Month.
Each month, NPC Chairman Jim Manion selects an Athlete of the Month in each of the organization's seven divisions - Men's and Women's Bodybuilding, Figure, Bikini, Fitness and Men's and Women's Physique - based on the information provided by contest promoters across the country and featured in the NPC News Online Contest Roundups every Monday.
Men's Bodybuilding: Blatz, 23, from Fort Walton, Florida, won the Super Heavyweight and Overall titles at the Panhandle Showdown on April 14.
Women's Bodybuilding: Sanders, a 39-year-old gym owner and personal trainer, from Jackson, Mississippi, won the Light Heavyweight and Overall titles at the Panhandle Showdown on April 14.
Bikini: Allen, 35, won the Class E and Overall at the Amateur Grand Prix on April 14. Allen, whose first competition was in October of 2011, has competed five times in the past seven months.
Figure: Baker, a gym owner from Kennewick, Washington, won the Class B and the Overall at the Empire Classic on April 28.
Fitness: A former professional cheerleader for the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer, Sutton won the Overall in Fitness at the Emerald Cup. Sutton is 23 years old.
Men's Physique: Pattinson, 28, won the Overall at the Empire Classic on April 28. Pattionson played linebacker at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and was signed by the Buffalo Bills in 2008 before injuries forced him out of football.
Women's Physique: Lessnau, 21, from Denver, Colorado, won the Class A and Overall at her first-ever competition, the Northern Colorado Championships on April 14.
