Paul was a gentle giant who broke record after record in Olympic Lifting and the early years of Powerlifting and other strength feats from the 50's and 60's. Paul passed away in August, 1994 but his legacy still lives on at the Paul Anderson Youth Home.

Several months ago Mike Johnston and Bryan Hildebrand of the Rx Power Hour Strength Radio program talked about ASC Pro Strongman Tomas Rodriguez' impressive Hammer Curl in the Log Clean and Press. Obviously, curling a 400lb log is not the preferred method of bringing it to your chest, but that is how Tomas did it. Tomas, after listening to our show gleened our advice and came into this years America's Strongest Man with a whole new PERFECT form in the event. He even set a new PR in the process. Brian Shaw returns on Day 2 of the 2013 America's Strongest Man and wins the first event, The Five Keg Press Medley. These kegs weighed from a starting weight of 200lbs all the way up to a 330lb MONSTER!
Dimitar Savitinov, the former Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey Circus Strongman turned pro just a few months ago. He had made the statement on the Rx Power Hour Strength radio program that he felt he was comparable to the likes of Brian Shaw, Mike Jenkins, Mike Burke, etc. and just needed the chance to prove himself correct. Dimitar showed up in Vegas for the 2013 America's Strongest Man event with his head held high and plowed through the competition with consistent placings. He wound up an impressive third place overall when the weekend was done.
The 2012 America's Strongest Man Micheal Burke was certainly considered a heavy favorite coming into this years event, but as fate would have it, his trademark strength grip took a blow and knocked him out of the show. Mike was loading the third keg into the Giant Wheelbarrow. As his hand slipped, his middle finger was caught under the 300lb aluminum beast and nearly took the end of his finger off. Mike, the beast that he is, bled his way through the end of the event and in classic style, won!
Robert Oberst burst onto the scene last summer after winning his pro card at the ASC's Dallas Europa Supershow. Roughly 7 weeks later, Robert arrived at the America's Strongest Man event and in the first event, established a new American Record in the Log Press. Fast forward, Robert qualifies via Giants Live to his first Worlds Strongest Man and makes it to the finals. Robert this year battled food poisoning and after a rough Day 1, comes back with a vengance to runner up behind the current Worlds Strongest Man, Brian Shaw.
