5 Things NOT to Do When Networking Yourself on Social Media

5 Things NOT to Do When Networking Yourself on Social Media

So you want to get your th (2)name out and get noticed in the industry?  You want to become a pro, or already are one and want to get more publicity. Before starting, here are a few things to think about… NOT DOING!

1. Being careless about what you say and write! Before submitting content to a website, doing a video interview, or posting content on Facebook or your personal website EDIT your work! Think through your answers before saying them. What you post or say is a direct reflection of YOU and posting it with spelling and grammar errors or stating false information makes you look HORRIBLE. Do you think a supplement company wants someone who can’t represent themselves to represent their company?

2. Post naked or lingerie pictures of yourself! Another big no-no. Of course you may want to get noticed, but the person noticing may be your employee, or future employee who Googles you in seven years! Remember what you post on the Internet STAYS there and can come back to haunt you!

3. Post messages via social media stating your currth (3)ent supplement company is the absolute best!  Telling people that the supplement company who sponsors you has the BEST products on the market and that they should all run out and buy them only lowers your credibility. NO ONE will believe you, especially when your fans or followers see that you said the very same thing about the previous company you were sponsored by. Instead post what makes the supplements special, recipes you use them in, show the results you have made using them.

4. “Stalk” the company you’d like to be sponsored by! It’s just poor form. When attempting to get sponsored by a supplement company DO NOT stalk their website, Facebook page, and every booth their athletes work at in every show you go to. Instead, find out who is in charge of sponsoring athletes and send your promotional package to them, TELL THEM what YOU can do for their company that no one else can, introduce yourself to them at a show, call them and ask what you can do to get sponsored and have one of their athletes put in a good word for you.  Sometimes it’s not that a supplement company DOESN’T WANT to promote you, sometimes they can’t sponsor any additional athletes due to financial restraints.

5. Email each dath (1)y, be pushy, and make a nuisance of yourself! There are MANY opportunities to promote yourself on websites, including RX Girl (shameless plug).  Seek out these opportunities, but don’t expect to be the ONLY athlete being sponsored on the site.  Since you are NOT paying the Editor-in-Chief to promote JUST you, realize you get more attention with sugar (being nice) than you do with vinegar (being snobby, self-centered, demanding... you get the picture). In other words, don’t email daily, push yourself on them, or ask them to make exceptions for you because you are the best athlete in the industry.

You may be laughing right now, thinking, “WHO DOES THAT?” but realize that it happens every day, every week and every month, and it won’t get you a sponsorship, pro card, or get people to notice you in a positive light.  Instead, it will definitely get you negative attention.  So if that negative attention is what you’re looking for, keep doing the above. But I know you want to POSITIVELY promote yourself. So let’s get started today! Visit Rx Girl @ httlogop://www.rxmuscle.com/rx-girl-home.html — the #1 Place to promote YOU!
