Meet MP Competitor Kerry Brudos

Joining 381418 202757403136089 1754214985 nus today is Kerry Brudos.  Congrats on a great showing!  What made you decide to compete in the Men’s Physique Division?
Actually Ian, finally feeling confident with my body is why I wanted to compete in the Physique Division. I grew up the scrawny kid, which made me very self-conscious. I had been training for 5 years until I had met a friend who was getting ready for a show and asked if I was getting ready for the same one. That was huge for me, so I decided to take a leap and go for it. I did my research and fell in love with the Physique division!! I play golf at a competitive level and I love that with the Physique division I don’t have to get so big that I can’t swing the club anymore.

Can you tell us a little about the show in which you just competed?
I just competed in the LA Championships and it was a learning experience that’s for sure! My first competition was in October at the Border States Classic in San Diego, where I placed second. This last show was a little different. I didn’t place nearly as high as I wanted and looking back I can see the places I could have improved. The thing I’m learning about this sport Ian is constant improvement, something I have tried to live my life around. It could be very easy for me to get down on myself and not want to do this again. But I am taking this like I have taken every setback I have encountered, I will learn from my mistakes to make me better than my best for the next one. Onwards and Upwards!

How did you feel after pre-judging?
After not being in the first callouts in the pre-judging, I didn’t feel too great.

How did you feel about the final results of the show?
After the final results of the show I can truly say that I was upset with myself, but also more motivated than ever before. As soon as I stepped off stage, I wanted to know what I needed to improve on to get better. If we’re not getting better, we are either staying the same or going backwards, I’m not a big fan of either one.

What are your thoughts on the Men's Physique Division and what it may be able to do for your career?
I LOVE this Men’s Physique Division Ian, and have ever since I saw a friend of mine earn his pro card! I know this will be huge for my career as it will be a vehicle for me to help more people. I am very lucky as I have been able to turn my passion for fitness and helping people into a career. By competing in the Men’s Physique Division it has allowed me to come into contact with more people I may not have met before doing this. I know the more people I come in contact with, the more people I can help make a positive impact on their lives!

LA Championships – Mens Physique class E 10th

Not planned as of now I have to get better first.

What keeps you on track towards reaching your goals?
The LIVE 212 mindset! At 211 degrees water is hot, at 212 degrees it starts to boil. That boiling water produces steam which can power a locomotive. So if I can stay in that 212th degree in everything I do, I know I will be successful.

Interesting fact or something you would like our readers to know about you:
I have recently started fundraisers raising money to give water to the nearly 1 billion people who need it around the world.
