Interview with Melih F. Cologlu (First Place in Physique at the Eastern USA’s)

What are your thoughts on the Men's Physique Division?
I think this division is going to become very popular very fast. I think the sport of Physique is going to attract many different athletes from different athletic backgrounds.

Years training:
10 years of training and 2 years of competition level training.


Education:

CPT, USC Business Admin.


Occupation: Personal Trainer

Favorite type of training: I love using the Drop Set Method for lifting and HIIT for Cardio which my body responds very well to.


Favorite body part to train: Chest and Back, I do these on the same day. I will do 45 min chest take a quick break to eat a little and go on to complete the 45 min back workout.


Favorite exercise: Chest Fly


Rep range: 6-12


Number of sets: 10-18 per bodypart


Typical workout duration: 75 minutes

Training split: I found that a 10 day training split works the best for me as far as recovery and working on weaknesses. So I will train each body part twice within 10 days.


Typical daily eating plan:

I eat a lot of pnut butter for fuel, minimum of 32 ounces of white meat, protein shakes, vegetables, complex carbs such as wheat bread and even wheat curst cheese pizza during bulking periods.




Favorite supplement: Kre-Alkalyn by EFX (Best Creatine)


What peaked your interest in training?

I was always involved in sports and trained with weights in the past. The interesting thing was that I always enjoyed the weight lifting part of the training more than the sports themselves.


Who influences/influenced your training?

My wife is a big support and influence on my training and diet, and most my friends at the gym give me a great deal of motivation and support. Also my parents are always there to support me.


Sports:
1999-2000 NCAA Division 1 Waterpolo (basically playing football in water, big contact sport), swimming


Special interests:

My biggest interest is to keep sculpting my body, day in and day out.


Physique, fitness, bodybuilding competition history:

I competed in the 2010 Muscle and Fitness Male Model search at the Olympia Weekend and it was a great experience, a lot of talent.

I just won the Eastern Usa’s Men’s Physique in Pittsburgh March 26, we had a great who and all the hard work paid off.

Qualifying for Team Universe in New York this July


Next planned competition:

I am planning on competing in the Team Universe Competition this July in NY and after that the 2011 Muscle and Fitness Male model search in Las Vegas during the Olympia Weekend (September).


What keeps you on track towards reaching your goals?

Knowing that each workout is getting me one step closer to achieving my goals and looking forward to making improvements is my main motivator.


Interesting fact or something you would like our readers to know about you:

I enjoy diving, extreme fishing(spear fishing and put what I catch on the grill for some good quality protein)
