  "Yeah..... the volume..... ehhhhhh..... How do you.... Robbie!.....Robbie!!!!......  how do you turn up the damn volume on this thing?"...... (some fumbling and garbled words follow, then.....) Yeah.... Ron can you hear me? ......  Oh, that's better.....  Look, Ron, Lee Priest is going to do the Last Word....  But that was Romano's column.  For Lee, how do you like the name ‘Last Rights?"

Rodriguez Almost Tells the Truth Again!

With nine seasons left on his 10 year $275 million deal with the Yankees, Alex Rodriguez is inches away from stepping into the new $1.5 billion dollar Yankees Stadium where he is expected to break Barry Bonds' home run record.  That would surely be an awe-inspiring feeling, except for the fact that Rodriguez is under intense scrutiny right now.

Onward

As I look around this teeny-tiny microcosm of pop culture we occupy, I marvel at the battle lines that have been drawn in the 10 days since Dave and were fired from MD.  It's inconceivable to me that Blechman thought he was just going to shit-can us and go on like nothing happened. Yet, knowing him as I do these last 18 years, I know he never expected the shit storm he's got on his hands now, and the lows to which he would have to stoop to try to "get us".

Dispelling Dishonesty!

In his book Cannery Row, author John Steinbeck wrote, "the things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second." I can't help but wonder if Steinbeck had foreseen the bodybuilding business rather than writing a story about the characters of the sardine fisheries in Monterey during the depression when he wrote those lines. More specifically, he could have been writing about the magazine I was just fired from.
