Enough Questions; Go Train!

The most commonly asked question I ever get is, "does ____work?" I wish I had a dollar for every time I've been asked that question by a guy looking for the answer. From this or that supplement; to this or that drug; to this or that training method; high-carb or low-carb; high intensity, low intensity; for every possible machination of bodybuilding, someone has asked me for my opinion. Do I look like I know?  I'm only five-nine, 205! I just like to train. So, for the most part, I really don't care if the subtle nuances in this great big thing we practice make that much of a difference.  I just do what I like and whatever doesn't aggravate my injuries.

My Friend Dan Duchaine

When he first coined that little phrase, he might well have been referring to a big, veiny muscled chick, or perhaps a post-op transsexual, or a dwarf -  even then nothing would have surprised me. But, really, he was talking about recumbent bikes, of which his particular design looked like it was destined to be the guru's next claim to fame. He was also intrigued with, and well informed about, high-end audio equipment that was as intricate and precise as it was insanely expensive. He designed his own pair of complex multi-chambered speakers and had them custom built specifically to enhance every invisible nuance that made an angry lesbian -  his favorite brand of performer.

Drivin' That Train High on Cocaine: Better Not Hit the Gym!

The other day I got another e-mail from a member asking me about training on cocaine.  After I told him I thought it was a bad idea, I pondered the frequency of this question and began to think that maybe some of you young'uns  might be thinking that cocaine is a good stimulant to drive your training.  It's a horrible idea.  I remembered writing about it back around the turn of the century, so I dug up the article in my archive and thought you all might enjoy it.

The Bring Your Body Back Stack!

Hanging out with some of you young bucks, I'm confronted with the effects of declining anabolic hormones; something I've experienced ever since I passed my 45th year. Compounding matters, I've endured a heavy 15-month cortisol cycle brought on by custody battles, real estate mental strife, new business creations, and cross country moving.  The damage this has wrought has left me with a mere shadow-- less muscle, more chub-- of what was once a fairly decent physique. Apparently, I'm not alone in this situation as I receive numerous e-mails and posts on my Q&A thread about what I think is the best noncompetitive aesthetic "stack" to bring your body back to its heyday.

The Powerhouse Gym Vacation

"Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it." - Raymond Chandler

As I walked into Bev Francis' Powerhouse Gym, these words from Chandler rang out in my head. In order for his words to be realized in a bodybuilding sense, Chandler would agree that you'll probably need some kind of factory.  If that factory isn't equipped to foster a hardcore attitude, you're not going to grow any muscles. Environment plays a big role in your training attitude

Whack Pack Field Triple to Hell in a Cell!

WWE2One of the best parts about belonging to the RX Muscle family is the trips.  Usually these ventures involve work (a lot of work), but sometimes they're more about FUN. This was one of those relaxing "fun" ones.

It all started a few days ago when WWE Superstar Triple H gave Dave six tickets to the WWE Special:  "Hell in the Cell."  After including himself and Colette, me, my son Max, and Big Sean Andros, Dave had one ticket left.  Who should we bring?
