GEN Labs Post-Workout Shake PROLIFR8 Review!

GEN Labs, a relatively new supplement company in the nutrition world, has just released a new post-workout meal replacement shake called PROLIFR8 which is designed to address the many important aspects of post-exercise nutrition—muscle recovery, glycogen restoration, ATP replenishment, and joint repair. Each packet of their all-in-one product contains 50g of PROLIFR8BOTTLEprotein derived exclusively from whey isolate and whey protein hydrosylate. I'm happy to report that no cheap, dumb-down, lactose-containing protein sources are utilized which can, ultimately, cause gas, diarrhea, and stomach distress.

PROLIFR8's 30 grams carbohydrate matrix is sugar-free and comprised primarily of maltodextrin and waxy maize starch. Additionally, 6g of medium chain fatty acids (MCTs) are included for additional instantaneous fuel. Remember, MCTs, unlike long-chain fatty acids, do not require carrier molecules to transport them into the mitochondria of the muscle cells where the fats are then oxidized into ATP (energy). To ensure that all the protein, fat, and carbs are properly absorbed, GEN Labs also included a rather comprehensive array of digestive enzymes. Very rarely do you find this in a post-workout shake.

After assessing the 3 macronutrients (protein, carbs, fats), I moved on to analyze the minerals and support nutrients. Each serving of PROLIFR8 contains 5g of creatine monohydrate which helps to replenish depleted creatine & ATP inside the muscle cells. Remember, creatine buffers ATP levels during intense exercise to ensure that the muscle cells never run out of fuel. Creatine also has a significant volumizing effect on muscle that keeps the cells well-hydrated and extremely anabolic.

If all this weren't enough for one meal replacement shake, glucoseamine sulfate and MSM (methyl sulfonylmethane) has been included to address joint and connective tissue breakdown during exercise. Glucoseamine and MSM reduce inflammation and provide the essential building blocks for joint growth and repair. While the dosage of both components is not significant enough to really instill any long-term results, it does kickstart the joint repair process.

Given the incredible array of ingredients in PROLIFR8, I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious chocolate cocoa taste. Usually when this many nutrients are found in a powdered drink mix, a nasty "chemical" taste is par for the course. The formulators at GEN Labs did a great job disguising the taste without the use of tons of sugar. Congratulations GEN on a well-formulated, great tasting, post-workout shake!
