The Good Guys

Good Guys 3If you don’t already know who the ‘Good Guys’ are then look no further than Aaron Singerman and PJ Braun. Fans of their popular radio show, Iron Empire Radio, know that I’m quoting an episode when the two went on a rant about all the funny questions random people ask them around town. Things like, ‘Are you a pro wrestler or do you fight/do you box?’ During one stop in a convenient store, the clerk behind the counter yells out to them, “Hey, the Good Guys are here!” and the legend was born. Aaron and PJ have been on a meteoric rise in the bodybuilding industry within the past year and I would be remiss if I didn’t give them their due.

Individually they are both at the top of their game. As recently announced, Aaron has been named the new Editor-In-Chief of RxMuscle.com, bringing us great TV, radio, and written content. He continues to rival what Billy Mays was to OxiClean for the ultra-popular IronMagLabs as their National PookieSpokesman and pitch man. He can be found monthly on newsstands worldwide as a writer for MuscleMag International. And as heard on Heavy Muscle Radio, he has logged nearly 100,000 miles flying around the world covering almost every bodybuilding show held in 2012. Oh and how could I forget that he managed to find time to get married and bring his new son, Asher into the world. Not too bad for a guy who used to be the Jewish equivalent of Pookie from the movie New Jack City.

And then there’s PJ, what a fuckin’ tool (sorry Isaac). I kid PJ, I kid. From an individual bodybuilding standpoint he arguably had a career best showing at this past year’s USA Championships. A 12th place finisher, he had incredibly sharp conditioning and beat out Lloyd Dollar (13th place) who eventually would go on to turn pro at Nationals later this year. From a business standpoint, you can’t turn on Facebook or Twitter and not read about a client of his who has either turned pro recently or done a complete body recomposition. Hany might need to relinquish his nickname as Pro Creator to PJ, at least for the female divisions. There is no question he is growing into one of the top contest prep coaches nationwide. He even got The Big Sexy, Louis Uridel into ridiculously good shape at the Excalibur, which should speak volumes of his talent to prep athletes!

Sorry Isaac 2The ‘Good Guys’ come together once a week for their radio show, Iron Empire Radio. For those not familiar with their radio show, it is hilarious banter between Aaron and PJ, but the duo ironically will not touch a bodybuilding topic or anything related to bodybuilding; that in and of itself is hilarious with each of them being completely entrenched in the sport. Each episode begins with the two talking about what’s going on in each other’s lives. PJ is bound to give a funny story on how his typical girlfriend-less Friday night at the tanning salon turns into a tutoring session with the front desk girl on her dietetics homework assignment; while Aaron keeps the show flowing and has to make sure PJ doesn’t find himself text messaging too much while on air.

The show has also built some funny story lines with the always classic ‘Timbo accent and flashbacks’, impressions of Dave Palumbo and his self-proclaimed wine bottle dick, Q&A from fans which coincidentally always end up turning into who would do more gay acts in order to survive eternal damnation, and what will always inevitably get fast forwarded on my personal iPod, the ‘Shout Out’ portion of the show.

Good Guys 2In 2012, we also saw the Good Guys come together and call South Florida their new homes. The area is quickly becoming the new Mecca of Bodybuilding with the arrivals of Aaron’s family (PJ, Baby Asher, and Darielle), Bob Chic, Dan Soloman, Flex Lewis and Abby Burroughs, Mark Flex Anthony, Chris Aceto’s Penthouse, Ava Cowan, Darrem Charles, and just about every major supplement brand in the industry.

The ‘Good Guys’ have also collaborated together to bring not only the bodybuilding community, but all men, what has been titled, “Project Small”. A video demonstration brought to us by their sponsor, Envision Medical, to depict how men who qualify for hormone replacement therapy can come off their medications safely and responsibly. And while Aaron and PJ are shrinking, recent pictures of Dave ballooning up 30lb of pure muscle in a month is further evidence that, A. He’s not dying or going through chemotherapy, and B. when you take your doctor prescribed medicines and stop eating salads 6x a day in lieu of a burger and fries you might start looking less like you’re dying and more like a former bodybuilder; in any event Dave, great to see you filling out again, we’re all relieved I won’t have to start drafting your obituary after all.

And now that the year is nearly over and we’ve all heard about new changes headed to RxMuscle in 2013 I myself can’t wait to see what fun stuff I’ll be writing about as all the new happenings are underway. Check back next week when I give my opinion on all that is and has become Kai Lesley Greene.
