Muscular Dystrophy Association gets boost from Lou Ferrigno

louferrigno2Santa Barbara, CA (June 25, 2014) Lou Ferrigno continues his support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) by raising donations at the IFBB/NPC Ferrigno Legacy bodybuilding and fitness competition sponsored by World Gym International.
Lou Ferrigno has worked for years with the MDA to raise money and awareness of neuromuscular diseases that plague millions of people around the world.

"It has been such a rewarding opportunity to work with MDA" said Lou Ferrigno, "Giving back is so important to me, so the idea of partnering with MDA for my competition, the FERRIGNO LEGACY, seemed like a perfect opportunity to do so."
In 2009, while filming his reality show, the INCREDIBLE FERRIGNOS, Lou was introduced to MDA and he began his philanthropic pursuit through celebrity interviews, appearances and telethons.

Lou's most notable contribution was when he announced MDA as his charity during the fifth season of Donald Trump's CELEBRITY APPRENTICE. Lou fought hard and long for his team, raising $50,000 for his charity, with another $40,000 at the show's finale.
While the FERRIGNO LEGACY will showcase some of the world's greatest physiques, one of the event's goals is to raise research funds for the MDA to help those unable to build their own physiques. Donations can be made by visiting the IFBB Ferrigno Legacy website at www.FerrignoLegacy.com/register and look for the MDA logo.

Designated a "Top-Rated Charity" by the American Institute of Philanthropy,
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is the world's leading nonprofit health agency dedicated
to finding treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
(ALS) and other neuromuscular diseases.

The national office at MDA stated, "Ferrigno is a longtime MDA friend and has actively
supported the fight against muscle disease as a member of MDA's Muscle Team. In
2012, he raised $91,000 to benefit families served by MDA on NBC's "The Celebrity Apprentice" and also appeared on the 47th on the fifth installment of annual MDA Show of Strength Telethon."
