Women Who Fear They Will End Up Looking Like Men After They Start Lifting Weights

Women Who Fear They Will End Up Looking Like Men After They Start Lifting Weights

This subject has become Britt Miller 03quite viral lately, but I have had it in the back of my mind for a long time. This is my perspective on it all.

I don’t know how many times I’ve heard these different excuses when women talk about starting training in a gym:

“If I lift too heavy or too much I will get too big.”

“Oh, you know, I don’t wanna look like a man.”

“Do you know how easy it is for me to get muscles?”

“I can’t train a lot, you know.”

With this analogy, would it mean if men start taking ballet or dancing classes they start looking like females? It’s the same principle. No, the truth is, the participant would go from fat or a bad shape to great condition if he stuck to his classes in the long run.

Both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Franco Columbu took ballet classes, too, and they didn’t end up looking like sisters to RuPaul, did they?  Or look at one of the most famous ballet dancer in the world Mikhail Baryshnikov. He is an athletic and quite muscular guy. And from what I know, he’s been doing ballet his entire life!

Those girls who you idealize and you see in fitness commercials, web-sites or at competitions –they work their asses off to get where they are. People need to realize it takes years upon years to even get close to where they are.  Sure, you can get good results in 3-4 months, but the most important thing – whether it’s your comeback in the gym or the beginninsarah1g of your journey – is consistency in the end. And that, first of all, does a bit of searching to find a training system which you appreciate and gives you the results that you’re aiming for.

Final words

If you have decided to do most of the workouts in the gym, work hard. The only thing you will get through hard training is a better shape and muscles to match it. So please stop talking and do the walking! To the squat racks, free weights, and get your cardio done, too.

Men are naturally more gifted with testosterone, so as long you don’t increase your natural levels there is nothing to worry about. Lift hard and heavy. Go for it! Don’t be afraid to lift hard and heavy. Give it minimum four months or six and then you might get hooked for life. In the end it will eventually become a lifestyle which also improves mental aspects like self confidence and general well being.

See you in the gym!
